Hmmm, I certainly don't reckon their quality is as good as Milltek.

Looks good, someone could snap up a bargain there. APR systems sound really nice too, a lot different to other systems out there  :happy2:

White GTi has a full turbo back one of these and he did extensive research before choosing one of these over Miltek.

^^^ Maybe, I will do some research myself as I am very temped by the one WhiteGTI has just got, as from his review it sounds (no pun intended)  like a good balance between performance, sound and cabin "boominess"

I've asked APR if they can supply an RSC for the S3 but they aren't very forthcoming in their replies.

Hi!

The eBay advert isnt too clear, im not sure if it is the RSC version. I notice that its being sold by Awesome GTI, so if anyone is interested, then im sure a quick phone call to them will clarify things.

I know that they did have the RSC system fitted to their demo car - so perhaps it is! Worth double checking though.

T_T - No doubt that Miltek produce very good quality exhausts. The new APR RSC system has been very well received by every tuner that I've spoken to, even with JKM who have sworn by Miltek for years now saying how impressed they were with it. Have a look at it one day in real life - the fitment, the materials used etc etc -  I think you will be impressed by it!

T88OMM - yep, the sound is completely uncharacteristic of the TFSI engine! Crazy

Top Cat - you seriously crack me up

Steve P - correct, I am running the RSC as opposed to their previous system. Their previous systems were called 'Stealth' - which is the equivalent of the Miltek Resonated (but be aware that this system is actually pretty loud and is more comparable to the the Miltek Non Res in real life). The other system was called the 'Sport' - which so I'm told sounds like a race car, and is too loud for road use. With the introduction of the RSC technology, the downpipe and sport cat part of the exhaust system has not changed at all from the old 'Sport' system, the RSC part is new to the Cat back only.

Yes, quite a bit more expensive than the Miltek equivalent, and in terms of performance gains from the full TBE probably pretty much exact to the Miltek, so I think the key point to consider is the noise differences.

As I've always said, if anyone wishes to hear the RSC, do not hesitate to get in contact with me, and we can sort something out  :happy2:

Chris.

Paul at APR has just got himself an S3, and I think they are using his car for the development work of this system. Probably only a matter of time before it comes out

Im guessing this wont be an RSC beacuse it is a relatively new exhaust isn't it ? I think that this system is the old APR one taken off their MKV demo car in order to fit the new RSC  :happy2:

So why did the pic in the fleabay ad clearly show corrosion on the pipes?  You don't get that with Milltek, nor do you get that on a six year old Magnex.  Me thinks APR stuff is overhyped, but ETTO.

How long has he had it, and are the pipes showing any corrosion?

Im pretty sure that the item on fleabay isnt the new RSC cat back - they would be promoting this for sure.

Maybe the new RSC system tackles this issue of corrosion that you speak of T_T. Dont know though! By corrosion do you mean the discolouring on the pipes in the fleabay picture to a more copper colour??? My stock system that came off had this all over, plus some black patches - which the guy who fitted it told me were areas where the exhaust was blowing.

I'll take a look at my APR after its been on a few months and report back as to if theres any corrosion.

Milltek have been plagued with their fair share of exhaust tip quality problems recently...

Those images looked more like rust rather than simple discolouration - which is a definate no-no for a "stainless steel" system.

Wasn't Millteks issues due to carbon fouling from the sooty FSI engines?  Glad I have black tips on the RS, though it didn't stop a complete sooty rear end when I was forced to use some shyte Jet normal unleaded!  :ashamed:

It isn't the RSC version its the regular 1 that was fitted to their demo, its the equivilant to the non-resonated Milltek, can't remember what APR call it but the resonated version is called stealth I think, Its is a bit loud for my liking, I had their car for a few days early on in the year, but it may be to some peoples taste

strange how i saw this thread... as i was the winner of the system

anyway ive sent a few emails to awesomegti regarding the "rust" look on the cat back but have had no reply. ive had a few other opinions by mates just looking at the photo and they also say looks like rust or could just be surface grime as they state in the auction..

they dont mention anything about rust as this is a big issue not to leave out!!!

i hope its not as i think £280 is a bargain for an APR catback

if i get no replies within the week ill contact ebay and cancel the transaction.

well just come off the phone to them, they said its just surface grime and is in excellent condition.. nothing to worry about

will be going up there at the end of the month, will post a video off the sound when its all done.

anyway...
i have £200 spare GTI cash left to use on my car, any ideas?

did want the newsouth boost gauge but with fitting is way out of my budget (£350)

if your wanting a decent boost gauge then i suggest looking at the OSIR vent pod with a defi blue gauge, this is what i have and was 150-170 through the TTShop.  :happy2:

The APR exhaust isn't a 'bolt on' cat back system.  It is designed to fit the APR downpipe and sport cat which is a 3" diameter.

so i need a down pipe? i told awesome my car was stock he didnt mention anything?

@josegti i dont mind paying for the osir as it looks much better than the newsouth, its just teh fitting cost as you have to install it properly through the dash as they said to me.

No just get a small step up adapter to go from 2.5" to 3" from someone like www.pipewerx.com.(Ian Birch)  I did the same thing but the other way around.  I have the APR downpipe and sport cat mated to the stock cat back.  I found the APR stealth too noisey for every day use.  So the APR cat back like the one you have just bought is sitting in my garage.  I get to put it on now and again though.

i was after a loud sound, most reviews and videos regarding the stealth apr say its just about average, i wasnt after the boy racer drone..

hope it wont be to loud or ill be selling it on, duno what to consider then as the milltek is similar to stock???

i presume awesomegti already know about the adaptor? they are fitting it for me late ron this month.

I can confirm the Milltek's on both Greenouse's ED30 and RedRobin's GTI definatly don't sound like the stock zorsts

From the minute Greenouse turned up last weekend to Maccy D's he made sure all knew it too  :P

I find it too loud on the over run at about 3k.  Its very boomy.  I think it is down to my exhaust being 3" all the way through.  If your fitting it to the stock cat back,  I am guessing it will be a totally different sound and maybe not boomy at all.  Saying that I have heard your exhaust on Awesome's demo car before they changed it, and it sounded quieter than mine.  I did ask if my cat back part of the system could be faulty, and would they ask APR to have a look.  APR europe reply was that they havn't had any problems with their exhausts and that it was made too long ago to be under warranty.(2005)  So tough in other words.

do you know which demo car it was? i only got a quick look and hear of teh grey gti with the big brakes and bodykit?
i hope it is that one as it sounded just about what i was after.

one other reason i wanted the apr was because i want to get teh apr remap at a later stage, after the down pipe so its apr all the way hopefully  :happy2:

ooh one other thing, dont suppose you know anywere i can get teh apr downpipe cheaper than awesomes price?
cheers
