Title: Reverse Camera
Post by: prp74 on August 12, 2017, 06:04:13 pm
Hi, does anyone have the reversing camera in their MK7? Is it worth paying to get this retro fitted. If so, any recommendation for someone in the London area?

Few peeps have retro fitted it to thier 7s on VWROC...ill try to dig out a link for you. Pretty sure it's dependant on which Headunit you have.

I have the discovery pro unit. There is guy on eBay (Alex, from Redditch who charges £80 to fit). Just wondering if it's worth spending £350-£400 for it?

Mine has a factory fitted reversing camera, I find it invaluable and wouldn't be without one now. I have Discovery Pro larger screen and the image is very good quality, I'd suggest you try and look at one in action to help you decide if it's worth it to you.

I retro fitted the reverse camera to my car last year, got it from 'silverwagen' on eBay a VW dealership. The kit came with everything needed. Trickiest part was running the wire from the camera to the glovebox, I have the Discover Media head unit. Once coded it works as if it was factory fitted

It's in my watching list -£260 for the kit. Been quoted about £80 for fitting, but the person is pretty far from me.

That sounds good. I'm on holiday so will speak to you later and book a date. Do you do weekends? Thanks Alex.
