Title: 02Q Gearbox Question
Post by: s3dubbin on August 13, 2015, 12:39:32 pm
A quick question. Can anyone help me read the numbers on my gearbox? I am trying to find out what year of box it is?

It reads as       KDT 16087 P2Q       140003-0002.

Any help would be aprreciated.

Stevie.

KDT would be your gearbox code from them numbers. Denotes Multitronic gearbox

Was fitted to Audi A6 (4F chassis) between 2006 and 2008 with the BRE 2.0TDI 103kW Engine.

Manufacture date should be on the bottom side of the gearbox casing .

If thats not your car then thats the wrong 3 letters. Manufacture date is next to the gearbox code

Yeah that is not my car. My dad gave me those details over the phone I will check tonight. My car is a manual s3 8p 02Q?

I will look tonight for date of manufacture, is that next to the 02Q?

Thanks for that, Stevie.

02Q refers to the gearbox series.

eg. DSG for Golfs is either 02E 6speed or 0AM is 7 speed.

By fluke I happened to find your gearbox code for S3 lol! Reverse order of entry in my Elsawin database.

KDT (subseries 02Q4) was fitted between 2007 and 2008 with the BHZ engine on the Audi S3 with 8P1 chassis.

Hope that helps  :happy2:

So all kdt boxes are 2007/2008?

Here are the other etchings outer casing 02q 301 103 h

inner half 02q 301 107 j     how do I read the manufacture date?

I was told I was buying a 2010 gearbox

Thanks for the help.

If you look in your service book or equipment sticker in the boot it should say:

Sounds like someones had same issue as you here:

http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/gearbox-help-asap-what-gearbox-audi-s3-2008-58-quattro-manuel-sportback.211814/ (http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/gearbox-help-asap-what-gearbox-audi-s3-2008-58-quattro-manuel-sportback.211814/)

All KDT will be 2007 and 2008. (some cars are manufactured but registered a while later but not late as 2010) so I think your gearbox seller is not sure/misinformed.

You may be looking at this listing??:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2010-AUDI-S3-2-0-TFSI-GEARBOX-KDT-CODE-6-SPEED-/161236126949 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2010-AUDI-S3-2-0-TFSI-GEARBOX-KDT-CODE-6-SPEED-/161236126949)

For that listing the clue is in the 2nd pic.. that gearbox has KNZ written and that corresponds to 2010 S3 with CDL engine

So if you want a KDT then you need to look at 2007 and 2008 S3 with BHZ engines.

Examples of what you need:

Hope thats helpful :)
