As per title! Anybody know if this is true .
Iv just ordered a set of calipers and the vendor has informed me someone who purchased a set a few weeks back he said that Subaru pads fit these calipers and there cheaper
Any info
-
When I bought my pads the outer box did actually say Subaru on it so I think its quite possibly true.
However the fact that DaveB and Alex at AKS have had loads of input into this kit and have never mentioned it makes me a bit hesitant, given how thorough Dave is about making his kits as good and cheap as possible it would be a rare oversight by him but maybe the brake guru can finally learn something from one of us .

@dansmith180 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9450) Does Dave have any TTRS kits for sale? :innocent:

Iv just ordered some refurbished calipers from eBay for £350, they take around a week to turn around and you can specify your colour and decals,
I cant seem to get the aks website to work, someone did send me a temporary link to there brakes kits but Iv lost it.

@vRSAlex (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1981) @DaveB@Vagbremtechnic are the guys to talk to.

Getting in touch with them has proved difficult

Don't know mate, all you need from them though is the adaptor kit if you want to run 345/ 340mm discs. Otherwise you can just grab some calipers and TTRS discs and pads from EBay or something.

They're both very busy people, have you tried phoning AKS direct? Probably your best bet at getting through to him.
-
Phoned weeks ago, l know there busy so just asked them to bounce me an email with prices ......... Not a jot!
Picked up vagbremtechnic kit n discs recently, calipers ordered just need lines n pads
How you finding them mintex pads ? How much where they ?
Iv found pagid rs4-2 pads for £205
-
I've got Brembo sports and they're very good, great cold bite and never fade. But its the only set I've had so cant compare to the Pagids, I think I'll try the Pagids next though as theyre supposed to be very good.
I know they moved recently so maybe worth trying again to see if you can get a response.

Just to let u know that Aks Alex is on holiday,he's bk on monday

Cheaper than what though?
I'm hesitant to move away from the Pagid RS4-2s as they're perfect for me.
-
Pagids are ok.... I found a problem with them though so couldnt 100% recommend them... 95%
-
My Pagids squeal all the time in slow moving conditions (parking, car parks, slow moving traffic) and it gets right on my tits.
The performance though is fantastic. the initial grab takes a little getting used too but after that they are just fantastic!!!
When i swap the calipers over to my next car I will be putting "more normal" pads in to get rid of the squealing.

I'm not sure to be honest, I assumed they meant Subaru pads are cheaper than Audi pads. But surly if there the same size shape and have the same Brembo caliper or whatever they'd be the same price.
I'll ask if there's any more info
I like the idea of the pagid rs 2-4 pads but I couldn't live with squeal either. Is there a good pad that doesn't squeal? I'm only looking to do about 2-3 track days a year so a compromise would be good
-
Knowing me I send the email to the wrong address.
Pads are the same as Subaru, Evo, DB9, TTRS, GT40, even the new VXR (sell a few RS4-2 pads for them as stock are terrible).
You can get a Pagid pads from Euros for about £35. Sold a set for a TTRS caliper on the 345mm disc last week, but not had any feedback yet.
-
Whats the best pads to run with these calipers?

You have plain discs so that's probably not helping the noise.
