Title: Rns 510 canbus questions
Post by: Patters78 on August 14, 2015, 06:39:04 pm
Hi everyone

I have today finally brought a rns 510 version c LED :) 330 quid

Now my question regarding getting it too work,  firstly though my main aim eventually is rns, reverse cam, mfsw, highline cluster, Bluetooth, mid in unit.

With that in mind on to my car Jetta 2006 TDI

With that in mind onto my canbus

After loads of reading I think I'm right in saying I need rev K or higher that stop bat drain? But will it enable me to do the other things?

I have seen a Jetta version k for 24.99 which is really cheap

Also can I get a canbus from golf if needed?

You need a L revision or from Q to later revisions. Just one of the K revisions with the correct firmware is compatible so I wouldn't waste my time searching for them.

Right ok so if Im getting this right.

K revision has only 1 firmware that's compatible (can that not be flashed via vcds?)

L revision is fine but anything between L and Q isn't?

Then all above Q is good

It can be flashed with VAS or other tools, but not VCDS. Dealer charges more than a new one used cost.
