Hi guys
Just picked up this little beauty yesterday. Nice condition and spec. This will be our second car, alongside my b7 RS4.
As soon as I saw the spec I had to make sure I viewed it first!
- 5dr Gti DSG
- Paddles
- Leather with buckets
- Xenons
- Cruise control
- Sat nav
- Parking sensors
- Sunroof
Only thing that lets it down is that the wheels need a refurb.
I only have pics from the advert at the moment, will update with some more at a later date.

Seats are wicked

Lovely spec - those seats are the nuts :happy2:

Nice gti that

Great spec, and those seats

Very nice! Not a fan of the buckets myself... But everything else = :happy2:
Would think your first mods gotta be an RNS510 and a factory bluetooth kit! (Get rid of that parrot!)
-

Thanks for the positive comments guys!
I do indeed intend to ditch the current nav and the parrot kit. I've got a pioneer Apple CarPlay unit in the RS4 and it's pretty good, so will probably do the same in the Gti. I read somewhere that Apple are making CarPlay wireless...what I don't know is if the current pioneer units are going to be compatible with wireless connection.
Drove it across London on Saturday, good fun, comfortable and so nice having an auto in traffic.
Absolute first thing is that I need to give it a thorough clean inside and out, still feels like someone else's car until I do!
Will go into autoshades in Sutton to get front windows tinted soon.
Next, have to do something about the wheels.

Also got the RS4 ready for a trackday tomorrow. Put the old wheels on (tyres are already part worn) and gave it a wash.

I pounced on it as soon as it came up on autotrader, and arranged a viewing for the earliest time the seller could manage. By the time I got there, I'm told there were another 4 viewings booked in over the weekend. Might have been more if the ad actually had the full spec, they missed some stuff out (e.g xenons, cruise, buckets not mentioned in the description). Was advertised at £7k
As far as mods go, first thing is to tint the front windows. The wife will be driving it mostly, so the rest (within reason) is up to her. She likes the murdered out look...so black wheels (maybe Bbs ch-r type mesh style), tinted lights etc.
Before all that though, DSG service and cam follower change.

That is one tidy golf. Seats looks good, same seats in your RS4?
-
people amaze me, someone said they they prefer the standard seats to the wing backs, love them and top car mate.
-
both cracking cars mate :notworthy:
-
Loving the RS, such a lovely looking machine... Your GTi has a great spec..... Those seats...
-
Thanks again for the compliments guys!
So, I dropped the car in to Volks Autos in Sutton yesterday for a DSG service. Thought I may as well get a couple more things done while it was in, so they also did an oil change service, cam follower change, DV change (revision G) and had a look over the mechanicals. There was one split CV gaitor they swapped over for me, otherwise gave it a clean bill of health :happy2:
I highly recommend them, fantastic service and good prices. The service manager, Chris, also happens to drive a mk5 gti, so knew his stuff. They're also an APR dealer too if you're so inclined.
I've already started thinking about mods to the car, started with an easy couple of changes. Updated the xenon bulbs which were a slightly yellowy-white and slightly dim, to some crisp, bright 6000K morimoto bulbs. i have the same in the RS and they're great. Also updated the sidelights to some LEDs. Sourced the bulbs from Trups (aka EM Tuning) who is a sponsor on the audi-sport and RS246 forums. He tells me he can also do his famous clear projector lens mod to the Golf, which should give lots more light output....might do that in future.
OEM and Trups LED sidelights side by side:

Thinking about the following fairly soon:
- Bluefin. (The wife reckons the GTi is boring! :stupid: This should sort her out. I don't think she's taken it out of auto yet either haha)
- H&R springs
- Tint front windows to match rear
- Light tints to front and rear lights
- New 18's, wifey wants to pick them out. Mesh type design.
-
The GTi is definitely a part of the family now.
Wifey woke up at 2am yesterday morning with strong contractions. We waited for some family to arrive to look after our eldest and jumped in the GTi (wife finds the rs4 too bumpy while preggers.) We made it from Sutton in Surrey to Chelsea & Westminster hospital in 23 min! I figured this was the only time I had a legitimate excuse if I got pulled over so was pushing on! The car was great; comfortable enough for the wife, quick enough to safely overtake slower drivers, and still smooth.
Straight to the labour room and our daughter arrived an hour and a half later! :-)
On the way home, full auto for a nice sedate drive, she slept all the way back (all 1hr 15min.)
Great car
