Great build you have there! :happy2:
Not much of the original engine left. The original gearbox would be too weak and too short for what you have now.
PS: I don't know many who would put a 1.4 badge in the back. :signLOL:
-
Haha I bet you get some looks of confusion with the 1.4 badge
-
Very nice mods..The route I am looking at doing
-
Nice, reminds me of my old 1.9 TDI :-) Except you uprated your Gearbox where as I blew mine up :innocent:
Do you work up at Darkside/SRS?
-
Lovely sleeper right there for sure!
Definatly how I would like my car to end up, just need to organise funds to support it all :happy2:
will keep a look out on this thread!

Thanks for the comments, yeah the 5 speeds in the MK5 are weak and prone to going bang at stock power so it was a must!
The do a 1.4 75bhp in the Golf so i thought it would be funny but the soot on the tailgate gives it away!
Haha I bet you get some looks of confusion with the 1.4 badge
Haha had a few!

Thanks, i hope you have big pockets haha!

I remember your old 1.9 and i can remember the gearbox going bang aswell
I work at SRS, seen your scirocco down at darkside a few times when you had the turbo kit fitted its pretty smart!

Haha! All part of the fun. I replaced the gearbox with a 70k one, then I think someone else who had it blew it up again, then you guys got the car dirt cheap? :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL:
Ahh well that's cool mate, small world :-) next time I'm up say hello! Ryan and Scott are probably sick of me with the issues we've had but it's running nice as pie now :-) so hopefully next time i'm up will be for pump and injector upgrade tuning! :rolleye:
-
When am down i will pop and say hello

Crazy spec...looking at that list it must have cost bucks
:congrats: :popcornsoda:
-
What great spec. Will surprise a few I bet.
I have been dealing with darkside last couple of weeks rebuilding my 02q box.
Did you not need the brass input shaft support? I bought the steel forks and bronze inserts as well.
Stevie.
-
Always like to see the derv game in a good light like this, reminds me of being over on ukmkivs when I had my PD!
As quick as my GTI is, reading that torque figure does make me jealous. Spec list reads very well. Top job

The torque is pretty average for a tuned diesel now a days it could do with really been capped at 360-380ftlbs as it still has stock conrods.

Stevie.
At the time of fitting the 02Q box the reinforcement plate and input shaft support were not available but its something which will get done done sometime.
-
I was told the reinforcement plate would not fit the 02Q only the 02M. This is the 3rd time my box has been out I hope these mods do the trick.
Cheers, Stevie. :happy2:

I got your old one.
Being broke at the moment
-
You ass :-( she deserves to be running in one piece not split for parts! :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:
Interesting to see the tip goes across the engine like a tfsi. Weren't the 2260s reverse mounted on these top make them fit?
Can't wait to see with the race cam!

Whaaaaaaaaaat :(
Who smashed it up?
Poor little Bobrick.
Both of my bloody golfs have been written off lol :(
-
New steering wheel ordered, tip to you all don't buy a fake OMP wheel as the fade and look gash after a while!

awesome spec on the car, think its pretty much the same set up as my mates fabia, so impressed with how these pd lumps drive and how reliable and good on fuel they can remain!

Purchased a CAE Shifter a while back and got round to fitting it back in August last year, awesome bit of kit.
Darkside will be making me a custom 2.5" stainless steel exhaust as i have had enough of the drone from my aluminium one.
Didn't end up putting a race cam in as i'm still happy with the power.
Thanks for looking!
-
CAE shifters are ridiculous money.
Cannot justify it at all. But they do look awesome, and are great to use.
Think you need to move to a highline cluster and get a Polar FIS :)
-

Because race car. Justification. :happy2:

Can justify a f*ck load of gay stickers.... cant justify a f*cking amazing shifter. :signLOL:
-
My shifter is brilliant rich, I think i remember you saying "this gearshift is really nice" , that was about 5 minutes after you stalled it twice in a row.
£1k on a gearstick won't help you go faster but it will appease the people on Instagram :)
-
Yeah fair point. I don't drive stick :innocent:
-
Picture of the custom exhaust darkside made for me earlier this week, very happy with it!
Whilst it were in for the exhaust i let them have a look at the map as the smoke has always been a little excessive for the power it made. With some fuel taken out of the map and less smoke the car made more power which is a bonus.

Is there any more to be had past 4k with some further mods? I remember some dervs making nearly 300bhp on the old mk4 forum, can't remember if that was with a 2260 or bigger.
Must be lovely to drive though!

With a race cam, ported cylinder head and tweaks to the map it would do 300bhp
It drives nice and been very reliable over the last few years
-
This is the route I was going to go done with my gttdi

As said with further supporting mods, stock car is around 260-270 depending on smoke levels and how safe you want to run it.
Nice curves Ash.
-
I've no idea how you guys get traction with torque like this. It's tough enough in a TFSI!
-
We manage :)
Careful application of the right foot, good tyres and decent chassis helps for me.
-
It's the careful right foot bit I need to practice... I can always throw money at handling mods but I get the feeling mine will always be a better car than I am a driver
-
