Title: Stolen RNS 510 - West Yorkshire
Post by: teesee on August 18, 2015, 09:07:09 am: Just thought I'd put up a post about my mates scirocco that got broken into on the 14th of August at 6:30. It happened outside DW fitness at Birstall retail park, junction 27 off the M62. They stole the RNS510 in about 30 seconds after smashing the window.

There was three guys in total. One driver one look out and the guy who smashed the window. They were driving an 'Amazon green' Mk1 Ford Focus. With no rear number plate.

Post by: teesee on August 18, 2015, 12:21:04 pm: Yep it was 6:30 PM. Peak time for the gym. They waited for about 20 minutes, then hop out when it went quiet for a bit and crowbar the window. In and out in 30 seconds. It's at the repair place now and they've said it happens all the time. Even when people have put in security bolts, the bodyshop says thieves just smash the screen with the screwdriver out of frustration

So easy to take out the head units out, so now we have resorted to taking them out while outside for sale to try and stop this. I have a rcd510 dab instead as they leave these alone!

Sorry to hear about the radio matey. Maybe a daft question but how come there not so bothered about the rcd dab.

Hope the scumbags get what's coming to them.

I sorry to hear about this, hope they catch the barstewardss that did it but it's unlikely!

Post by: Jamie9004 on August 19, 2015, 06:10:07 pm: When they did over our place all them times, they just went for the rns510s Neva sniffed at the rcd510s so that's why I went for a rcd510dab, not saying some bugger won't try and get mine tho. I'm not a thief but I reckon they are worth the risk to spend the time gettin a rns over a rcd because they are worth double the money!

rivets are the best "security bolts", but from my experience, you will find your unit with smashed screen.

You can always replace a screen and a front fascia. The unit is more expensive than that.
