Ed30 with miltek tb with decat
Revo intake
Auto tech pump
Revo stage 2+
Dsg stage 2
Car was run in 5th gear on dyno and made 315bhp
Which is nowhere near what revo claim. Any ideas why
-
Is that at the wheels or crank ?, not sure about transmission losses but maybe that is about right for wheel horse power at 2+ ?
What settings did you have ?, boost, fuel, timing ?, I am sure you can turn down stage 2+ to 315 at the crank with the wrong settings
-
you may want to invest in a intercooler
-
Bit weird for a dyno pull to be done in 5th gear? Most I've had done and seen are in 4th
-
IC would be my guess
-
Intercooler is on my to do list which seems to be endless, he said 5th because there was to much wheel spin in 4th. I don't know about setting I just let the tuner do that.
I also have a recurring problem with code p2177 the light wasn't on but came on not long after the run? I've changed lambda sensor and fuel pump internals and rebuilt the pump but the light is back on, I'm thinking maf?
-
To add the car ran 309hp on the second run so they opened the bonnet a little for the 3rd because of the temps.
-
Where did you get it dynod? And do you remember the make of rollers?
-
scoob clinic, dyno dynamics
-
Would have thought the bonnet should have been open anyway.
Id say get a cooler on first then see if it picks up on the next map.
Did you get a dyno print out that you can post on here?
-
They must get some high power cars on there so surprised to see it spin in 4th?
Can't remember off the top of my head but sure the ratio in 4th is closet to 1:1 as it can be without the engine out, making the figure more accurate where as in fifth it won't be making your bhp read out of character. Maybe a garage on here could explain, could be wrong @Statller-Stevo (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=5906) . @hurdy

A new IC will help you after the first run once the temps get up, but you should at least get one run with power in the area you are expecting. Don't buy a IC and expect to gain 50bhp, IC gives you consistency. If you are down on power that much look elsewhere first.
-
Something not right there, mine ran well over that at stage 1.5 (although RTech). Assuming it's run on 99RON?
check DV and yes IC and a FPRV are also needed. As mentioned, post a pic of your graph?

It's running on vpower, I'm going to order a dv and try that, ic and rs4 fpv also. I'm not sure how to upload pictures

Can you get vagcom and do some logging ?, before you shell out on other bits check what the actual issue is. Actual verses requested boost will tell you about the DV (and a visual check). Actual and request rail pressure will check the fuel pump. And intake temp will see how hot things are getting. For stage 2+ you need these parts but it's worth being scientific about it to nail the problem. Could be a boost leak in a hose, PCV valve ?, low settings on REVO ?, could be loads of things. I'd get some logs mate.
-
Spoke to the tuner who as seen the logs and he said there is no boost leak, I've checked the dv visually is fine. Going to try the maf tomorrow.
-
Fuel pressure worth checking too
-
Will do but the first time the light came on the internals where replaced with autotech and pump rebuilt with new seals etc.
-
Can you get hold of vagcom ?, log requested verses actual fuel rail pressure. That will tell you if the pump is meeting demand, and also what is actually being requested. It could be the map is set to low settings and only trying to make 315bhp. And in fact you don't have a hardware issue.
I don't know what a stage 2+ revo map requests on average for fuel and boost, fuel should be requesting and meeting 130+ bar I would think, and boost I would have thought 1.4bar upwards ?. I am sure someone else with a 2+ revo will know.
I just fitted a rs4 valve to my car, the standard one bleeds off at 130bar so you might be unlucky and have one that bleeds really early in which case you rail pressure cannot meet the requested numbers.
-
Looks like replacing the maf and fitting a g dv as fixed the engine light problem, car feels a lot better now? Also I've been told running in 5th will not give a true bhp reading, how true?
-
4th gears in most modern transmissions give near as dammit 1:1 gear ratio.
http://forum.miata.net/vb/archive/index.php/t-21001.html
Kind of explained in that link and to how it effects the figure you were given and to how it can make the figure you got lower than expected!
Maybe try another dyno before you chuck anymore money at potentially not a problem.
-
Worrying the dyno operator doesn't know which gear to run in !,
As mentioned, don't throw anymore cash at it until you know a: what the confirmed power is and b: what the issue is with some diagnostic runs, you could be throwing money away
