Title: Newsouth steering column pod
Post by: Chris92 on August 20, 2015, 10:20:55 pm
After getting another gti mk5 and wanting to fit another boost gauge is it ever possible to get the steering column pod to sit nicely in? My old one never fit good and it annoyed me. Are they ment to have clips built in or something? Any other alternatives pods for the steering column?

I didn't know much about the pods available but ended up buying the air vent kit from SWGmotorsport.com
It looked as if the steering column pod might restrict your view of the dial behind slightly??
Put some pics up if you go for another one, i don't think the air vent pod is in a great position on the right hand side of your view so may change it when a better alternative comes up.

For me the air vent pod isn't the best for a boost gauge, oil pressure, oil temp gauge would be much better suited to the vent I think. Have a search on here or google plenty of imagines of the column one, only hides a little of the rev counter and the lower part at that. It's a great pod but I just could never get it to sit/fit properly.

I can tell you that my vent kit first allowed the vent to operate...remain open. After shutting that vent once, I was unable to re-open it using the dial underneath and allow air flow again.
