So I have had my ed30 since March, I believe it is a previous members car as it has the site stickers in the rear quarter glass. As soon as I got it it went straight for a full service with belt and water pump. Not done too much to it yet with getting married recently but got plans for it. So far I have fitted a ramair oversize induction kit, changed front and rear vw badges for black one, grill and boot gti badges for red ones and just generally cleaned it up and enjoyed it. Recently removed all inner arches to clean them out and tetraseal them ready for winter and repainted calipers until I buy s3 fronts. The wheels are also in for refurb next month

Not much happening to the car at the minute. Been to edition 38 today which was a good day. Got some metal pressed plates and the gti dead pedal from creation motorsports
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.tapatalk-cdn.com%2F15%2F09%2F06%2Fe4abfb81b59b23d8a53cc2e9f44212a4.jpg&hash=1e9cded492826c4d72c9f3cdd9b6ba6408682746)

Picture quality isn't great, I've screwed my rear plate on as I have lost plates before when using sticky pads ect
I got a shortened front plate but not fitted yet as I don't know if to buy a smooth grill or just get the original wrapped to cover the holes from the horrid original plate fitting
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.tapatalk-cdn.com%2F15%2F09%2F06%2F588ef8a32c3cdc07b1ab6ae81a383dc1.jpg&hash=3ba6a74c74f7aea8478c908dd84f9c8bd41d4d85)
Also when I got back to my car at edition 38 somebody had scuffed the front bumper on my car. I'm suprised some cars weren't crashed into as there was a few chavs in some Jap crap cars trying to drift in the middle of the car park while we were walking bank.
-
Thankfully managed to Polish scuff out (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.tapatalk-cdn.com%2F15%2F09%2F06%2F1d01f83fbe4c2e7994c0976e099cad2d.jpg&hash=545ebfa5a3cd9e3f8ba69e02630b7d6f6b5fcf74)

I will put it on the Xmas list :happy2: along with some wind deflectors I think :)
-
Wind deflectors are a definite mate just make sure there team heko ones
-
So a few things happening today, picked up new pcv for my car after vw gave me a revision p valve last week which made the car run badly so has been changed for the revision r. I have just fitted it and my engine starts a lot more smoothly and idles better than ever, not had chance to take it for a run yet though.

I've also made a start on smoothing my grill ready for it to be wrapped tomorrow. Still not sure if to have gloss black or carbon

Sanded ready for filler
-
All smoothed now no ready for wrapping tomorrow just need to decide on what to go with gloss black or carbon? (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.tapatalk-cdn.com%2F15%2F09%2F08%2F39738f96904071e6860c47762be3607a.jpg&hash=ad4af8e0b5dc599ee60176adc4bd28b987c5cf66)
-
Gloss black :happy2:
-
All depends on what you prefer, I like the look of the carbon with the colour of the car. But its all to do with personal preference
-
black for me :happy2:
-
Black for me as well. :happy2:
I had mine wrapped in carbon fibre when I bought it but I took it off. Looks miles better as standard, IMHO.
-
Yeah I think I will go with gloss black. Carbon wrap is a matte finish so won't look as good
-
what about red?
-
No it's got to be black
-
Just de wipered the rear not 100% if I like it or not yet though?

Makes the back end look a lot cleaner :happy2:
-
Just got back from having my grill wrapped and just fitted the 3/4 German font plate. Tomorrow I need to get it up in the air to find the irritating knocking noise coming from the front and rear at low speeds over bump surfaces. Hopefully it something like drop links

Yeah it does probably look better when it's been washed and I've got rid of the wiper mark off the wondow
-
Cars booked in Tuesday for the wheels to be refurbed got until then to make my mind up on colour, at the minute I'm pretty set on anthracite/gun metal grey
-
How did you get the plate on? Magnets?

I've used some velcro pads for now until I get time to put the magnets on

should have put the plate on the lower grill Then you could show off your new shine :happy2:

I did try it mate but I didn't like the look of it didn't look right at all. The mk5 is a awkward car to reposition the front plate
-
Just thought I'd add a photo of the back now with the new plate and dewipered after its had a wash. Think I'm going to go for a r32 rear soon

You know that you can only really check the difference doing tests on a rolling road or a track. The IC will be less effective cooling the air from the turbo, so the engine will produce less power, specially after some heat soak has happened. Not having anything blocking the airflow to the IC will avoid that heat soak. There are tests made by APR confirming this.
-
Just thought i would add a few pictures of a couple of my old cars

Looks lovely mate! Super clean. Have you looked at the glass dewiper piece? Or a flush fit plastic?
I Tryed the glass one but was abit messy trying to get it in and sealed so I've got a black plastic one now that sits flush with the window and it looks great :)
I looked at the glass ones but there expensive for what they are. The one I got is plastic and screws on from the inside and has abit of silicone on it to seal. I might get a glass one as they are more of a flush fit. You got a link for the one you got?

The glass one I got was crap wouldn't recommend it mate.
I thought glass would be great would match the window but tbh where the wiper hole is it's virtually black anyway so the glass looked out of place because you could see straight through it! Unless others are really dark tinted glass? I'm not sure.
I'll try find the link to the one I've fitted and I'm happy with. It's plastic but flush fit and you don't even notice it :)

Hopefully next month it will be lowered with front and rear wheel spacers. That's it until after Christmas then it will be s3/r32 front and rear calipers and bits to go for stage 2

Afternoon the last few times I've cleaned my car I've noticed no matter what I do with the black b pillars they still looked dull and marked so today I have removed them both and wrapped them with 8dm gloss carbon vinyl. Looks so much better than they did.

How do you take off the b pillar trim? I have a 5door ed30 and all the window trim needs a wrap!

Put your windows all the way down and pull the rubber out from down the b pillar and there's two t25 screws then it just slides out mate

Well my time in the edition 30 ended Wednesday. I lost intrest in the car and had very little time to do anything with it. Replaced it with a 2008 325d msport auto fully loaded. There's a few things I miss about the golf but the low end tourque from the 3.0 6 cylinder is great and it handles really well. Here's a few pics of it
