To make it short , I have an 08 ed30 which is stage 1.
I want to hit stage 2, can I just but the clutch and replace my oem dual mass
Or do I have to go for a single mass racing one ?
With me being an 08 plate will I have a Sachs clutch and flywheel ?
Can't find definitive info !

I think Luk was fitted to the earlier models.
You can fit a single mass flywheel if you want to. Some say they get clutch chatter.
so you can fit either dual or single

So mines be almost the last of them it will be Sachs ?
That's fine will stay dual mass.
Can you still run the oem one that's in it, mines has covered56K, or can it be replaced with a new oem one ?

It could be either make of flywheel (in theory) if you have done 56k likely you should replace the flywheel too. Dual mass flywheels don't last forever. I had a new clutch at 48 and the flywheel needed doing too.
Stick to dual mass, single mass is not as smooth.

I went for the Sachs one with single mass flywheel, organic clutch and pressure plate. Haven't had any chatter and doesn't feel much heavier than standard.

I would always recommend keeping your Dual Mass Flywheel for a daily driver.
Ive tried and tested Helix clutches on stage 2 cars inc Quattro where they get a harder life. I can now get them at good prices too. They are great, but always expect a harder pedal due to heavier clamping spring force.

I had a new OEM DMF fitted along with a new Organic Helix clutch on my Eddy when I went stage 1.5 and it's been beeter than great over the past few years with my Stage 2+ Map. I can't recommend that combo enough. Pedal feel is great, only a touch stiffer at first but VERY soon felt like a OEM feel pedal.
It's the best combo there is for fast road (or occasional track) use there is IMHO. Mine stage 2+ Map was initially mapped to over 420ft lb and this combo clutch/DMF was still holding strong before being brought back to within my requested limits.
Speak to Alex at AKSTuning as he usually has the Helix clutches in stock (although he sells out quickly) and probalby can't be beaten on price for supply or supply/fit.

I'm not bothered about about feel just so it can handle stage 2 really , but I will go with dual mass and helix when I make the jump for it .
Cheers for clearing it up folks :happy2:
