Title: ED30 overboosting and feels like clutch is slipping
Post by: STV4R on August 26, 2015, 06:50:29 pm
I switched to APR remap few weeks ago and since doing so have run into a few problems. First thing was the stage 2 map, (actual) fuel rail pressure was all over the place. Requesting 119 and getting like 78/80 then jumping up and back down. Took in to tuner and said it was the HPFP so i upgarded that to the APR HPFP and he updated my software to go with it. Since doing that im now getting overboost from around the 3k rpm right to the redline and no faults in VCDS. Also feels like my DSG is slipping, put my toe down from aroung the 3k rpm mark and the revs jump up by about 300/400rpm. These problems have only started since going from revo stage 1 to APR. Ive included a few logs if some of you experts can have a look at them and let me know what you think please. Garage is fully booked untill next friday so would like to try and figure out whats going on.
And my mods are, Evoms CAI, Scorpion 3" DP and Decat, APR HPFP, R8 coil packs and RS4 Fuel return valve.

Stage 2 log with fuel rail issue so upgarded the hpfp

these 2 logs are after the hpfp was fitted with stage 2+ file

Try posting up the entire log (unedited)

Click Logging Icon (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/Themes/flagrant4/images/bbc/personalizedBBC/logs.gif)

Paste vcds code.

You also need to write something outside the logging tag or it will say post is empty.

@dazza (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=10457) what is the vcds code as I tried this the other week and was unsure what it is or where to find it  :stupid:

Open the csv log file from vagcom with notepad/text editor and copy and paste all of the code.

Major drop in fuel pressure on the one log

yea that was when i got the APR stage 2 put on and tuner said it was the HPFP so i upraded it to APR HPFP and got the map updated to suit it. Then thats when started to get the overboost issue and the feeling of clutch slipping.

Should have read opening post properly. APR2+ gives huge boost, more than VCDS will show in specified. Logs look fine to me. The extra boost & torque from going 2+ sounds like its too much for the DSG. Has it been serviced? Tried Tried a reset with VCDS? Having DSG mapped can increase clamping pressure which would help

DGS was serviced last year about 12k mile ago, it has a revo dsg map and yea ive tried a DSG reset.
I've read quite a lot that the DSG maps do not increase the clamping pressure.?

Did APR dealer not have a dyno to run it on and data log AFR to show actual readings?

Certainly make 100% sure it isnt running lean, or you will melt pistons!

Lambda AFR is in the log. No idea if the Revo DSG maps increase clamping pressure, but it CAN be done. The likes of R-Tech can increase the clamping pressure as part of their DSG map. What mileage has the car covered? Only thing i could suggest is clutchpacks but i dont know enough about the DSG boxes to help any further

Covered just shy of 89k miles.

Your turbo wastegate actuator has a bit extra preload from its original calibration. It can be left alone, but you may want to adjust if it were more than ±2psi from specified boost.

So dropped car at garage this morning and picked it up tea time. Had the map downgraded to stage 2 to see if the clutch would stop slipping and sure enough, it didn't. So i've been out tonight and did some more data logs and as you can see from this log everything looks spot on (well to me it does). But why is a stage stage 2 file requesting more fuel pressure than a stage 2+ file..? I thought stage 2+ should be requesting more than stage 2..?

I also did a couple of data logs on the clutches. 1 with stock map and 1 on the stage 2 map. I don't know how accurate the torque is on this but you can see the big difference between the 2 and that its barely an extra 2 bar clamping pressure between them.

Im going to try and get it booked in for a dsg service next week and if its still slipping get it booked in for custem map and dsg map with rtech. If that fails looks like it'll be new clutch packs :sad1:

Did you solved this problem? Because I have something similar going on.
