I am trying to work out if my gti is already lowered or not.
Who ever is on the std suspension pls can you tell me the height from arch to tyre

Doesn't look lower to me mate, maybe the dark coloured wheels just gib the illusion? Can't you see the springs? Should be able to see if they're VW or not

Have a look at the springs. If they are black and have 3 coloured dots on them, then they are OEM. Aftermarket ones are usually red or blue.

Mk4 suspension was much softer than the Mk5. And that does look 20-30mm lower than standard to me.
Measure from floor to top of arch, aligning the tape/ruler with the centre of the wheel.

This is mine on H&R 30mm when I was on Monzas.

I would say that's standard, it's about the same as mine which is standard.
