Want two new tyres but which to get Michelin pilot sport or Michelin pilot sport 3 and what's the difference between the two ?
-
Loads of 'which tyre' threads, but to save you a flaming...
Michelin Supersport are a league above. Do a quick search and have a good read.

I've tried both pilots you mention above however they were on 2 different cars.
I had 4 pilot super sports on a M3 which was producing around 360bhp with 280lbft of torque.
I have pilot sport 3's on my edition 30 which has same bhp but far more torque around 390lbsft.
I honestly can say you won't be able to tell the difference it's the torque that destroys tyres grip and the edition 30 has a lot of it.
Get the pilot 3's and save some money.
I personally think they have a better looking side wall too.

I have Pilot Sport 3 on my GTI and it goes perfectly

I've recently gone from pilot sport 3's to vredestein ultrac sessanta I personally think there's less road noise from them and grip better bother wet and dry. Hopefully they last longer aswell pilot sports ware too fast.
-
i have just swapped from vredestein ultrac sessanta to pilot super sports stage 2+ with 400 lb/ft of torque the vreds just couldnt handle it and span far to easy
the grip out the super sports is excellent
but the vreds did last ages

Pilot Sport (1st gen) - quite old tyre with a "V" groove pattern, but not bad at all - if still available
Pilot Sport PS2 (2nd gen) - still available, great steering feel and dry grip (sometimes sold just as "Pilot Sport")
Pilot Sport PS3 (3rd gen) - good overall performing, improved wet grip, but slightly worse steering feel
Pilot SuperSport PSS - the "real" successor of the PS2, even better dry grip and steering feel than PS2
I'd say the PS3 would be more like the successor of the Pilot Exalto (PE2), so a
tad less sporty compared to the former top-of the-range PS2. Indeed the PS3
has been the successor of both the PS2 and the PE2. That's why it has become
less sharp as the PS2.
Some PS2 afficionados disliked the PS3, and probably that has been one major
reason why Michelin launched the PSS two years later. The PSS is the best dry
performing and still daily-driving capable summer tyre currently available. :happy2:
If your tyre size is 225/40 R18 or 235/35 R19 I'd recommend trying the PSS.
You'll enjoy it. The PS3 is a decent tyre too though (and availabe in 17" and
even 16" sizes).

i got PS3's all round on my basically stock GTI.. absolutely no complaints

Ps3's here on 18" wheels, To me there a OK all round tyre. Ideal for the normal commute and nice grip on a spirited drive. There the best tyres I've ever had for wet grip. Wear seems a tad quick but I do drive quite hard but they definitely lack steering feel.
