I've been around long enough to know that the OE revision D or G DV's are the preferred component of choice for many, but at what level of tune should someone start to consider something like the Forge kit?

My thinking that combined with the different spring rates from their service kit, I can tune it with my engine tune as I got up in power. Am I right in that line of thought?

I had one and had HUGE amount to turbo chatter on car also kept throwing error on my vcds and when i went to Rtech to get it mapped Nikki didn't want it mapped with it said they can loose boost also with the vacuum pipe it seemed it didn't really do what it was meant to as was tiny little hole

Interesting... What error codes did you have coming up with it?

Wouldn't even consider it unless going big turbo (bigger than K04 hybrid)

I had one installed my old GTI which was mapped
Worked a treat - no errors, leaks or issues
Don't have one installed on my current car because it's not getting mapped

I can't remember as it was a good while ago now about 7months ago something to do with dv error

GTX3071R is my plans, hence looking at proper upgraded DV's. Was going to stick with my revision D until the turbo build, then it'll be a complete overhaul of everything to compensate. Looks like I'll be going the whole way, 3071R, inlet manifold, WMI... You only live once!

I distinctly remember you telling me the R was staying standard... But I can't blame you in the slightest for your change of heart!
We don't get a second chance after we get old and die do we.
If you get anywhere near the performance of Hurdy's you'll be a happy man. As much as on paper it sounded like a monster, in practice it seemed like usable power, and it behaved just as compliantly as a near-stock R would. Of course, on boost, monster goes some way towards a good description. From my fleeting experience of it, he built a very balanced car.

You must be mistaken, I would never of been determined to keep the Golf R stock after tinkering with the GTI so much. Honest...
OK, so that plan f**ked up within 2 weeks of driving the Golf R. I do have a little build thread going over on VWROC but I'm trying to work out a good plan at the moment so it's slow progress. So far I have some 6 piston Brembos for the front, 330mm rears planned, H&R springs and roll bars planned and stage 2+. Naturally, stage 3 will follow over the coming months.
