Title: Any ideas what this rattle is? (Videos included)
Post by: JUNNYAK47 on September 06, 2015, 08:03:09 am
Hi guys.  Started to rattle after a track day yesterday. Only does it on idle and no issues with power delivery or anything else while driving. Videos:
This from inside the cabin. Sounds like it is coming from under the dash on the drivers side.

This one of the engine bay. Sounds more like a bell ringing now.  And i think its coming from the tensioner (i think thats what it is).

Any help much appreciated before i spend money on a garage checking it

Just realised the vids were set to private. Made public now.  Anybody any ideas?  Reading on here it looks like it might be the cam chain and tensioner

Its not the fuel lines.  Garage thinks its the tappets.  Going to get a second opinion before i get them to strip engine and check it

Havnt been to my usual garage yet due to work.  Booked in next weekend.   However the sound has completely dissappeared now.  So im worried whatever was making the sound has broken completely.   Howver no issues withe car and seems to be running fine at the moment.  Have you had the same problem?

I would start by disconnecting the auxiliary belt as it could easily be the alternator pulley!
