Title: Anyway of knowing who has mapped my car?? Also overboost code
Post by: Ricky123 on September 06, 2015, 05:00:23 pm
Hi all, just wondering if there is anyway of finding out who has mapped my car??

I've been threw all the history and there are no invoices for it. There's no dyno printout out.
It looks like One of the previous owners is the person who has added any/all modifications prior to my ownership.

They've added a pipeworx decat, auto tech intake, fully polybushed all round, eibach springs, braided brake lines, mintex dimpled and grooved disks and pads

To me, going of the mods they sort of had an idea of what they were doing unless they were advised by others. I'm just hopeing it's not mapped by someone that didn't no what they were doing as I don't want it to go bang on me.

The map itself feels ok, it pulls hard from really low down, the turbo does sound like its spooling it's tits off nearly all the time with the intake fitted. In higher gears when giving it full throttle it goes into limp mode and throws an over boost  error up and it not great on juice, there never going to be amazing but doesn't matter how it's driven I can barely see over 25mpg on the trip computer.

I can get into the 40s if I really granny it. That's a k03 car, totally standard except R-Tech Stage 1.

The usual suspects of dv and pcv can affect mpg.

Not sure how you'd go about identifying the map, but I think a Revo dealer can identify Revo code, if it is that.

It's had new DV, PCV, coil packs and plugs, I can't see anything mechanical causing poor mpg.
I run it on tesco momentum fuel although it doesn't seem to make any difference what I put in it.

Is there anyway of doing a data log or something that will show boost, fuel, timing etc so some one with abit more knowledge than me in this department can tell if the map is no good?

yeah data logs can be done by somebody with VCDS, have a look on the section in this forum and there is an owners register! look for somebody near you and give them a message, it is a pretty simple thing to do really :)

I've got vcds myself. I've not really experimented with it much to be honest. Is there a guide on doing a data log, saving and posting results??

You can phone rtech and give them your reg and they will look it up on their computer system. i done this when i bought my car over a year ago just to confirm it. i had a printout though with whatever date etc was.
