Title: Edition 30 Number 0067
Post by: irish_ram on September 07, 2015, 07:35:48 pm
Probably a long shot but anyone on here know anything about Edition 30 No 0067 with Reg OY56 OXJ.

I only ask on here as found the below thread which shows a member on here may know details and also about the Stage 1 as I have no details of this as was not mentioned when bought.

Yes - believe this was a VW press car. Just checked on it - indeed it was. Red 3-dr with xenons, isn't it?
It featured in Volkswagen Driver mag a few times - was on the cover of the March 2007 issue.

Can't help you with if it was mapped since though...

Yeah sorry should have mentioned I discovered that after I had bought it when browsing ebay one day and saw the mag for sale and couldn't believe it was my car. Have now got an original copy of the mag which had a 5/6 page spread on it  :happy2:

Not sure if having a press car is good or not though.

Am looking for details on the Map as a member on here from that link i posted said it was his mates but seems he has not been online since last year so was hoping others may know him or about the car.

If I took it into a remap place apart from them being able to test it on say a rolling road could they tell anything else. I mean I dont know much about re-maps apart from it flashes the ECU I believe but so they leave any other info or signature that would tell you what and where it came from

I noticed you specifically mentioned Xenons. Does the Ed30 not come with these as standard?

No, they weren't standard fit - the Xenons were an optional extra (£750 I believe).

Ah right, think it mentions in the mag I have about extras that were fitted so getting better all the time

Just read the article more closely and it came fitted with luxury pack 2 and winter pack and bi-xenons.

Anyone know where I can find out what exactly came with the luxury pack 2 and winter pack?

I think the winter pack is low screen wash warning, headlamp washers (but these were standard when xenons were fitted), and heated windscreen washer jets. So on yours (and mine), the winter pack was just heated windscreen washers...
I think luxury pack was a dipping side view mirror when reversing to give a view of the kerb (you have to have the mirror adjustment knob turned to passenger mirror I believe), and electric folding mirrors with puddle lights.

Ah right, not sure if I have headlamp washers but never checked as presume these are activated by using the screen wash whem I am in the car so wouldn't see.

The luxury pack I will need to check the mirror thing but not sure if I have electric folding mirrors and if I do how do I check. And I presume by puddle light this is different to the standard indicator light on the wing mirror?

I have the luxury pack on mine, the passenger side mirror will dip in reverse if the mirror control stick is left on the passenger adjustment. Folding mirrors is another icon out of the four you should have if luxury pack fitted, they barely fold in though to be honest so you're not missing much if you've not got it!

Over the range there were two luxury packs available:

Luxury pack – 1 includes a rain sensor and automatic dimming interior rear-view mirror, electrically foldable door mirrors with reverse activated kerb-view adjustment on the passenger’s mirror, dusk sensor, coming/leaving home surrounding area lighting function and front footwell illumination. Optional on all models.

Luxury pack – 2 includes the coming/leaving home lighting function. By timer or remote control the headlights and door mirror indicators will illuminate at night-time. The pack also includes a rain sensor and an automatically dimming interior rear-view mirror. The exterior door mirrors can be folded back electrically with the driver’s door mirror having an automatic dimming function, and the passenger’s having a reverse activated kerb-view adjustment. Optional on all models.

The dipping side mirror was also featured with the parking sensors.

Ill have to check then as had a look this morning and can see I have lights in the bottom of doors so presume these are the puddle lights but never noticed if they come on.

I will go out an test the reverse dip mirror function but not sure I have any other control for electric mirrors as I think the dial just has 3 positions being L,R or centre.

But re-read the VW press release on my car and does say Luxury Pack 2

So checked the car and did not seem to have the reverse mirror dip or electric windows.

I initially tested the reverse mirror dip by turning the dial to the L position and then stuck it in reverse but the mirror did not lower at all even when reversing back. The mirror does move when I adjust with the dial so the unit is operational. So not sure if I don't have this option. Although I went into the highline menu and had both Mirror Down Options and Mirror Adj on.

I then looked on the side mirror dial and only option I had is L, 0, R and the heated mirror symbol opposite 0 so does this mean I do not have this option either as I don't know how to test

In terms of puddle lights the lights at the bottom of each door don't come on when lights are on and I open the door but looking I think they are just reflectors maybe.

Was there different Luxury pack options depending on the yeat as mine says Luxury pack 2 but is a 56 plate.

They were both available from the start and are mentioned in the 2005 brochure.

Perhaps the write up got mixed up with the packages...?

Maybe so, Looking at mine I can only confirm I have from the Luxury packs are:

Rain sensor and automatic dimming interior rear-view mirror,
Dusk sensor
Coming/leaving home surrounding area lighting function and front footwell illumination

Ah right, those are all standard on the GTI

Ah right, I also have bi-xenons which is right from what it mentions. Maybe a long shot but wonder if the pack was removed and sold by a previous owner

Ouch! I was sad to find this Edition 30 is looking a bit sorry for itself now...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-VW-GOLF-2-0-T-FSI-GTI-EDITION-30-DSG-MK5-RED-LEATHER-7-SERVICES/122888058164?hash=item1c9cb2f534:g:hkAAAOSwU4FaSLeR

Non Edition rear lights and those terrible wheels. Poor thing! Someone has even had the rear wiper ()...

My ed30 is also an ex-press car. It's in the independent newspaper, and potentially in one of the older VW driver mags, but yet to find that yet. I had VW UK HQ programmed into my Satnav. It also has the "OY56 OX." plate, (on a private plate now)

I think its been filmed at somepoint aswell, as with the correct level of condensation and light you can see multiple camera sucker marks on lots of the windows.
