Title: Sound Proofing/ Speaker Upgrade in London/Kent
Post by: SeyiiOluwa on September 08, 2015, 03:20:27 pm
I want to improve the sound quality I get in the car so I've decided to get a speaker upgrade and do some sound proofing, as that's what seems best for my diesel.

Since I'd be upgrading my sound system I've also decided to change my roof lining, door cards and carpet to the darker shade GTi ones

Looking to get these all done at the end of the month and wanted to know if anyone in the London/Kent area had any recommendations as to

1. What type of soundproofing material to use
2. Which areas to soundproof for best results
3. Advice on speaker upgrades (I've got 2xFLI amps 400w, 800w and a Sony Xplod sub with a few other random speakers)
4. A place/person where I can get the job done well

Thanks a bunch

Try David at safe n sound in Thornton Heath. Please mention Faisal with the black RS4 sent you.

He installed some new audio kit for me and I think it sounds great in my RS4. I'll be over Tobin with GTi at some point.

He installed focal front components (I forget the model), dynamat extreme in the doors. A JL 10" sub in a discreet box, all powered by a JL XD(3 channel) amp. Sounds pretty good to me

I recommend Hertz stuff personally
i have ESK163L's in mine with a 4ch hertz amp and it's very good.
To be fair don't waste your money on Dynamat you're paying for a brand name. I used whatever random cheap sound deadening/insulation stuff that was on Ebay. Did the job and weighs about half as much as well.

Have you got any links for the ones you've bought? There are so many on eBay. Also, how much would I need to cover all my doors, roof, floor and boot ?

Can't remember.

To cover everything you'd need a lot.
Probably 3 rolls of the stuff at £30 quid (for the "cheap" stuff).
I think I paid £60 and that was enough to do 2 car loads.
Don't need to do the whole car really but up to you :)
