Title: Upgrade disc / pads
Post by: NDGTI on September 08, 2015, 06:34:38 pm
hi
It's time to replace my standard discs as they are scored .....
I want a decent upgrade but am not sure what to go for ?
Also I want decent pads ? Ferodo ?
I'm not particularly mechanical minded, so I need your expertise
I cannot afford the top top discs, so want something " good " but not the cheapest
Thanks

Personally, I'd keep the discs standard and spend the money on an uprated pad.
Ferodo DS2500, Mintex 1144s...  EBC Yellow are ok (if you want to remain legal).

Thanks, I'll do that, what are the standard discs please  :ashamed:

ATE are standard kit
But PAGID are fine.

Worth doing a fluid change if it hasn't been done in a while to get a nice pedal feel.

I have the ferodo pads mentioned above and find them horribly noisey. I wouldn't put them on a daily car again because I just look like a pikey in car parks and at slow speeds with them squealing all the time. They do stop the car though.

Ive had the mintex before and I really cant fault them

With new grooved disks, pads and ATE brake fluid it gave me confidence everytime

+1 for the Mintex 1144's up front with grooved 340mm tt discs.
I have pagid rear discs and pads.
Brand new VW brake fluid which has replaced my super blue fluid.
My brakes have never felt better.
