Title: Anyone know how to turn off the annoying hazard flashing under hard braking?
Post by: pudding on September 11, 2015, 03:58:53 pm
Can it be done with VCDS, or through the Highline MFD menu?

I came up against a bunch of slow moving traffic on the motorway (a tractor, caused the usual accordion effect) so I had to brake hard, and the hazards started flashing.  Irritating as it wasn't THAT hard a stop!

I'd imagine it's possible with VCDS, but it's a reasonably good safety feature to be honest, when I'm slowing from 70mph down to anything slower than 40mph on the motorway I stick my hazards on as it helps people work out what's going on and I get less people getting right on my rear bumper in those situations.

It's an option on VCDS that only late mk5 had activated from factory, AFAIK. If it annoys you, just deactivate it. :happy2:

I think it's a good safety feature most of the times but I've had times that it activated for not a good enough reason, IMO. :signLOL:

Cool!  I hear what you're saying but the hazards were flashing for ages after I slowed down though!!!  I didn't think to press the hazard switch actually, would that cancel them?

I need to turn off the lane change 3 indicator flash thing too as that buggers up my quick flash left then right to thank people for letting me into a gap!!

I think you can turn off the hazards by switching on and then off, but I need to confirm it.

The blinkers are also programmable by VCDS. :happy2: My PolarFIS can do it from the menus as well.
