I know you should avoid dry steering (?) but when im trying to manoeuvre out of a tight spot, ill turn the wheel full lock so when I start moving im getting the best angle. When I do this, it makes a horrible noise that doesn't sound right.
I have no noises when steering when moving or turning.

Knocking whilst your sat still or when you accelerate with full lock on?
If it's when your stood still I would check top mounts or if it's when you set off with full lock on look at cv joints

Could Also be the steering rack
-
What sort of noise?
-
You know what, I tried again after I posted, and I couldn't hear anything! I tried to go from full extent full lock to the other full extent (not sure if I quite did) but I couldn't replicate the noise.
Its when I'm sat still. Its like a continuous straining noise if that makes sense.

Doesn't have power steering fluid, it's a electric steering rack.
Mine makes a creaking noise some times when I'm parking on my drive.

CV joint ?
To test go to a big empty car park drive right on full lock then drive left on full lock sounds like clicking noise its the side with the load on eg while turning right loads on the out side wheel so its the left cv joint same goes the other way around

Carpy, it's not really a clicking noise. Plus I don't hear it when driving. Saying that, I did replace the near side gaitor so had to seperate the cv joint earlier this year. But like I say, I don't think it's that.

Is the handbrake on when you do this?
-
Er it was then but it hasn't been in previous occasions. Although thinking about it my foot may have been on the brake (DSG) :ashamed: starting to feel like I may have been a bit dim...
