Title: Phone Menu disappeared from MFD
Post by: Wolf Burger on September 29, 2015, 07:31:50 pm
Hi,

The phone menu has disappeared from the MFD on the dash board.
The battery has been disconnected during a repair and the steering wheel has been off.

Any idea what could have happened? Somebody has told me to disconnect the bluetooth module under the seat, start the car for 15 seconds. Turn off then reconnect and the menu should re appear.

Next problem is there is no module under either seat.

Its a proper Rubicon Fiscon bluetooth fitted by VW.

Any ideas??

Do you have a polar fis fitted by any chance?
This happened to me the other day. I lost phone and audio menu and steering wheel controls stopped working.
To fix I disconnected and reconnected battery and also updated polar fis to latest firmware although I don't think that step was required.

If the above doesn't apply, you may need vcds to check you can access the module. I guess if you can't find it, where ever it is, the connection may have come loose.
Could it be behind glove box or behind head unit or centre console?

Jas

Thanks for the reply's.

Car went into VW today in Derby and being that the Rubicon Fiscon Bluetooth kit was not a genuine VW part they basically said there was nothing they could do and that the system probably never worked in the first place.

Anyway whilst waiting outside for a lift I got speaking to a lad who I knew from school and he called over one of the "Technicians"
I explained everything and he said he would have a look whilst sorting another warranty issue.

Unplugged the bluetooth unit and ran the car. Turned off.
Re plugged the bluetooth unit and started the car and the menu has reappeared. Works perfectly again

The bluetooth module/unit was behind the stereo!

Hope this helps anyone in the future.  :drinking:
