Hi guys, in the next few months I'm going to have around the 10k mark to spend on a car, and I'm not sure what my best option would be! I really like the look of the mk6 gti but for that money I'm guessing I would be looking at a slightly higher mileage car, or should I go for a nice edition 30 mk5 with lower miles on? The other half drives a 170 gt tdi mk5 so I kinda feel I might get board with the ed30 to quickly as I have been using hers on and off for the last 4 yrs (different driving experience I know but still looks similar and same dash etc).
I would be looking at keeping it for around 3 yrs or so and obviously don't want to lose a fortune either.
What would you go for if it was your money?
-
I'd go for a 335i
-
I'd buy a nice ED30, you might have to wait a while but you won't lose much money and they are a lovely car, if I hadn't already poured so much into my normal GTI I would buy one.
-
Get a low mile Edition 30 that's tuned.
Your love every minute of it I promise.

Shameless plug :signLOL:

I would say ed30 for all the same reasons as above, really nice car, should hold value well & plenty of fun plus you can go large on bhp if that's your thing. Only had my one a week & all standard but loving it, just have a look on here for some great buying tips & cars for sale, good luck :happy2:

i have swapped from a gti to a ed30 and honestly the difference is night and day you'll love it.

Does a k04 make that much difference..?

well both of mine were stage 2+ about 70bhp difference now so obviously a bit different if standard. but just the dsg gearbox is good and just feels nicer to drive . don't get me wrong the gti is good but edition 30 just seems nicer to drive.

"Id spend most of it on coke and hookers... and I would fritter the rest"

Ha ha ha that sounds like a mint weekend

Another option if you already have use of a golf....Audi A4 b8 2.0T Quattro s-line. Remap alone gets it close to 300bhp.
I had one for 3 years, great car, very smooth and refined, but made quick progress. Only thing I didn't like was that it sounded like a vacuum cleaner. Really needed a performance exhaust
I sold mine for £12.5k Ish but I've seen some around 10k mark (slightly older/higher mileage)

Wow, not 1 vote for a mk6 gti. Whats the mk5 got that the 6 hasn't? (or is this just a biased forum lol?) I do like our gt170 mk5 and I'm sure the ed30 is miles better too. I'm not a fan off the a4 tbh never have been. 335i is a good shout, but there's just something about them that don't do it for me!!
Bonelorry your car sounds like a beauty mate but I think I would like a few more options fitted tbh and maybe dsg. Also its a bit to soon as ive got to shift my x5 before I'm in a position to buy.
-
How about a Passat R36 or Passat CC with the same engine.?
-
I would love the estate version, but one of the reasons I'm getting rid of the x5 is to cut down on general running costs and I don't think the Passat would help to much. Think ill put it on the short list though ;-)
-
TVR Cerbera. Anything else would just SUCK!
-
I would look for a Pirelli edition as they are quite rare. Or buy a Mk6.

i had the CC-R36 before my Mk2 cupra R. Apart from the £500 a year road tax in the CC the running costs or similar.25mg round town 30mpg on a run.....
£100 for oil n filter service
I had pads and discs done all round for £350
-
scirocco or mk6 gti would be my plan

S2000 values are steady now. Probably not going to get any cheaper. Good drivers car out of the box as well. Less than 10k as well.
