Great story!
Yep I am a few miles behind but still plugging away
174k is on the horizon and have a good run down to London coming up next week
300k is impressive though :congrats:
-
Great story and he has to go for the 500,000 miles :jumpmove:
-
That's a lottt of petrol!
-
Great story. 300k :notworthy:
-
Good read, I wonder if he has ever actually replaced the cam follower?!
-
I wonder how many oil changes that totals up too
-
This is great, makes me think my 106k has plenty left in it.. Fingers crossed :happy2:
-
And to think there are people on here afraid to put miles on cars and get so hung up about 'high mileage'.
It's a fantastic every day car, enjoy it like this guy has
-
I wonder how many fuel pump cam followers he replaced
-
At the end of the day to get to that kinda miles, the car has been on the motorway cruising...... a lot. Lot less stress than a car that is driven hard, tuned and does a lot of short journeys.
-
Great testament to VWs when maintained properly, driven normally and loved, they plod on
-
Not really surprising lol.
Engines will pretty much last forever if looked after. :happy2: nice to see it's being used.
-
Did someone clock it... badly?
-
I have to say, these cars are rock solid, i'm on 107K at the moment, and still going strong.
-
Damn, I've pretty much rebuilt mine with the amount that's gone wrong with it and it's "only" on 145k.
-
My wife thinks our car is unreliable "i'm always working on it".

Only we understand dude!

Wonder if he has ever changed the cam follower :popcornsoda:
-
I bet the intake valves are nicely clogged up!
-
I'm always scared to rack up the miles on my car and hardly drive it - it's still on 66k.
We need to invite this guy to the Forum - he's a legend (well his car is).

Why? Are you keeping the miles low for the next owner? (66k isn't really low) Selling it with an extra 10-15k on it than the miles you do in it now isn't going to affect the price of it that much. They aren't really worth much anymore in the grand scale of things.
Your car at the end of the day but doesn't sound like you are enjoying it as much as you could be.

That's some mileage! I love driving my mk5. In an ideal world where I've won the lotto, I'd have a mint, low miles, pampered one tucked away, but I'd still not think twice about using one every single day...
