Hi all, been on the forum for a whilst. Been meaning to write a build thread but haven't got round to doing it till now.
First VW was a MK4 Golf 1.6 which lasted about 8 months -

Bought some cheap 17" alloys of fleabay

Then on my birthday the gear box blew up,

After a new gearbox and clutch sold it for a profit (y)
Then saved up the pennies and bought this little beauty for £6k with 51k miles on the clock 1 owner and full dealership history !
17" monza alloys
cloth interior
everything stock

After a few days ownership she was looking neglected with the 100 mile a day round trip to work

Bought a D/A polisher, a ton of polishes, glazes, pads, quick detailers from chemical guys (well worth getting a few things from) a karcher snow foam lance and gave her some much needed tlc.

Soon got used to the 200 ponies, so booked her in down at AMD tuning essex for stage 1 map, miltek catback (non resonated), DV+, and panel filter. This resulted in a complete change in the feel of the car much more responsive and goes like s**t of a shovel. Dyno print out "claims" 250bhp ! after having a couple of runs against my mates stock focus st 230bhp i wouldn't say it was far off.
(Excuse the awful photography)

Wasn't 100% sure about them, but they're growing on me, next to get some lowered springs on, R32 projectors, R32 brake kit, Twintake, Twintercooler, HPFP internals, Miltec 200 cell sports cat downpipe, stage 2+, clutch, sm flywheel + much, much more.
Another project in the household - VW beetle hot rod

Cheers Pal, yeah well worth doing.
A couple of things I missed out,
Had a full service, cambelt and waterpump done using oem parts @ 60k miles by my mechanic for £500 (y).
Checked the cam follower, bought a spare (will change that over in the next few weeks).
Headlights had tarnished, seems to happen to a lot of these golfs. So went over it with different grades of wet and dry then machine polished with a scratch remover compound. After a couple of months they went back to being all misty, not as bad but still not how i want it. So will be buying the depo projectors next month.
With the new alloys on, there was a bit of arch rubbing when going over big dips in the road, so bought an arch roller hopefully that comes tomorrow, setting up for the springs/coils to go on.

Looking good mate! Looks like you did a good job tinting the lights too! Something I might look into.
