Title: Performance figures from VCDS

I'm going to do a DSG reset at the weekend using my uncles VCDS

Is there a way of checking my BHP, Boost or any other useful figures to check my engines performance? It is running stock apart from an updated DV and PCV etc.

Those performance apps that connect to the OBD2 port tend to divide the peak MAF figure by 0.80 to give you bhp, but you can do that manually yourself if you data log the relevant measuring blocks. 

I did that on mine and it was surprisingly close to the actual dyno figure I had done afterwards.

You should be able to log block 120 in the 08 - engine module.

Log from a rolling start in 3rd gear to flat out and then use the 'block 120 spreadsheet' here http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/index.html to convert the figures.. and if you want create a chart.

Do a few runs and then you can take an average.

You can also log the boost on block 115 in the same module and then use the 'block 115 spreadsheet' to convert from mBar to psi

Yeah what bimbound said.  I couldn't remember the measuring block for the MAF.

If you do take the laptop out, it's a good idea to data log the MAF, actual and requested boost, actual and requested rail pressure and lambda regulation.  That will give you a general health check.

Don't be surprised to see requested and actual boost being miles off each other.  It takes time for the N75 valve and wastegate to react, and VCDS logs in tiny timeframes.  When the pedal is pinned for a second or 2, the boost readings should level out.  If the boost is always below requested, you've got a mechanical issue (leak) somewhere, but sounds like you're on the money with 197hp anyway!
