Title: caddy rear calipers upagrade
Post by: dansmith180 on October 10, 2015, 11:04:29 am
So it seems a little while ago DaveB put together a caddy rear upgrade as a lighter/ cheaper alternative to the S3/R32 setup. However although I can find how to do this I can't really find how well it works. So has anybody on here got this kit with a TTRS 4pot front setup/ equivalent or bigger and does it balance the car well or do I need an S3 kit. Would like to know of this would be worthy as its about £300 cheaper for me.

Looks like my review over on the caddy brake thread was good timing, I hope this has helped you make an informed decision.
I can only think of positives regarding this mod especially if it comes in at £300 less!
The best bit is the consumables like pads and discs remain the same.
As you said throw a couple of braided lines on there and it's a better combination.
I can see on eBay you can pick them up for a little as £25 each!

@AIR_CHILLED (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=7113) it was great timing indeed, my problem is OCD so if I get S3 rears they have to be refurbished to match fronts and new discs to match and pads and braided hoses so it will cost me like £600, whereas for the caddy upgrade I can get red calipers for about £150 (hopefully) and then just buy pads and hoses. Thanks for the help  :happy2:
