Title: Variable Valve Control
Post by: liam on October 12, 2015, 06:02:04 pm
Hi All,

last week i had my chain and tensioner replaced as i have the AXX engine code and this caused a lot of rattle. When having it replaced they rang me and said my variable control valve had cracked and needed replacing and it was £400 for the part.

When its running there is an even worse rattle, and it sounds really rough. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem? Dont know if they are just chatting bullsh*t to get more money out of me...

Think they are probably talking about the cam shaft adjuster?

Have the sound changed since doingi the chain and tensioner? There are a few discussions on here, some people change all 3 (chain, tensioner, adjuster) it's a bit hit and miss if you need the adjuster. Although I haven't heard of one being cracked, don't suppose you seen it or got a photo?
