Title: Brushed metal steering wheel inserts.
Post by: Matt81 on October 12, 2015, 06:02:08 pm
I've bought some of these but no idea how to fit to my ed 30.

Pulled the black ones up and they seem to have wires going into them and don't look to be the same from what I can see.

Have just pushed back in for now as think I may set off air bag or do more damage (sure I heard somethingsnap).

Are you DSG or manual?

They are held in with a torx screw iirc. To remove you are meant to remove the airbag.

I'm guessing these are only for manual cars then?

If your DSG, I assume you have paddle shifters? They are wired behind them. I'm not to sure how integral they are. Depending on you stereo / dash setup you might be better going for some multi function buttons.

As mentioned above to investigate further you would need to remove the air bag.

If you look at the first photo in this topic you can see how the manual wheels have foam with two round holes where their cover 'clip' in whereas the DSG are hollow

why not just use vinyl to wrap them?
