I'm getting both wings replaced under warranty. I asked about getting bonnet resprayed at the same rtime and they have quoted £310+vat.
Seems a bit pricey, but as they are doing the wings I should get a spot on colour match.
What do people think of the price? I'm not the sort to die in a ditch over saving £50.
-
that is about right for vw pricing
i would say its expensive but as you are getting the wings done at the same time it works out ok :happy2:
-
I paid £425 from VW for bonnet and bumper.
Get it done at another cheaper trusted bodyshop.
-
Just popped into a local body shop who quoted £280 plus VAT without any blending.
-
is that just for the bonnet ?
if so might as well just go with vw

Yes bonnet only. The bodyshop has a good reputation locally. They had a Lamborghini there!

Lol where do you live
London?

What colour is it? Mine is flat black and the wing VW replaced matched the bonnet and door perfectly. May not be the case with other colours but it wasn't an issue on mine. £310+VAT doesn't sound too bad for a proper job. It's a big panel to prep, especially if it's peppered with stone chips.

Its tornado red.
I live in Warwickshire.
Bonnet has LOADS of stone chips - at least 80 I'd guess all over it.
-
red is a hard colour to match if you just done the wings you would notice it everytime you look at it
even taking it to another garage saving a few quid how do you know they can match it you would end up with a total miss match of colour on the panels

Bonnet is a big panel providing they do a great job on it £310 plus vat is about right as roof and bonnet it a right nightmare due to size and getting it right

I wouldnt get the wings and bonnet done at different places. Im either going to pay the £310+vat or not get the bonnet done at all.
Just want to try and negotiate with the bodyshop.

Go see Greg Howell buddy in southam @ southam bodies. Friend of mine and he painted my black bonnet and my edition new door skin painted that, painted the boot and straightened a few car park dings all for 550, so for a bonnet I would imagine around 150-200
-
I had my bonnet painted when they replaced the front wings...
My bonnet is LC9Z black magic and was covered in stone chips too. Managed to talk him into doing it for £200.
-
I understand that if you had the re-spray done at the VW bodyshop, you also preserve the anti-corrosion warranty :happy2:
