1st off, merry Christmas! :xmassmiley:
How does the gti decide its time for a service? does it literally count down the miles from the last reset of the service counter or does it go off the oil condition? or something else?
thanks all!

Depends on what it is set at. If time and distance, then usually that. If longlife, then I think it analyses how you are using the car eg short journeys, long journeys etc.
-
If I am informed correctly it's literally the volume of fuel that the engine has used. This covers all situations, cold starts, motorway journeys, short stop-start trips, etc.

my car was serviced (apparently) when i bought it (1200 miles ago/3months) now its telling me i need a service??? my fuel consumption maybe bad but im beginning to think it wasn't serviced.

Perhaps they didn't reset the service light?

That has happened to me before. Also had to take a car back once because they hadn't stamped the book! :surprised:

they must have a tick list tho....once you do it tick it.....whats the world comming to if they cant tick a list correctly???
thing is...if they never serviced it, my car will be doing double the time its suppost to without a service...
