@GTi-Andy (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=10725)  did you manage to get hold of the newest maps in the end? Mine are in desperate need of updating! :ashamed:

Latest maps are V13 (2016).

Latest firmware depends on the HU version.
A: 5238 modified
B to Q: 5274 modified
R to T: 6276 modified

Cheers

Is there a risk of bricking the unit if updating the firmware? Last time I updated the maps only (V10-V12) and left the firmware alone.

Source the firmware from the right site, burn it in a good CD and you'll be fine. Just follow the instruction given for that procedure.

Of course messing with the firmware is a risk. Updating maps is risk free for bricking the radio, AFAIK. You just lose the maps at the worse chance.

Hi Gents.
I have a RNS510 DAB - 1T0035686C which is running 5218 firmware and map version 7918.
What firmware and map version should I upgrade to......and what benefits will the upgrade bring? (Or is it best to leave well alone?!)
I upgrades my old RNS 510 years ago and gained full 7 digit postcode entry for the navigation system so what are the changes now?
Thanks

Leave FW the same, just upgrade maps to newer, because your maps is V9, the newest is V13, most popular at the moment V12.

Hi does anyone have the md5 checksum for the RNS_510_FW_5274_update_modified.iso file so I can check the one I found is valid ?

have downloaded the maps but the file is coming up as 6GB? is this correct? as it won't let me move onto my SD card or burn onto DVD as the file is too big

Are you using the SD Card tool? I've never used it. I just burn and copy DVD.

I thought that was implicit when the file is bigger than a single layer can store...
