Title: Rcd 310 aux lead possible?
Post by: Matthewsimone on October 21, 2015, 05:08:58 pm
Afternoon all
Just a quick one, wife has a 57 plate Gt tdi with rcd 300 unit installed
Is it possible to get a lead/cable to plug into back of the unit to allow us to play mp3 player and ipod etc?
Even just a 3.5mm headphone plug would be fine?

Looked at them on ebay but bit confused what will and won't fit the rcd300!

Any links and info much appreciated as always

Matt

Sounds silly but have you done a Google image search and looked at the back to see if there's a jack port available?

None OEM unit has jack for aux on the back, aux comes from the quadlock wiring. Some of RCD300 supports aux, some not, depend from the manufacturer. Only RNS310/315 has aux port on the front.

I fitted one of these Connects2 kits to my RCD 300 - it gives you a 3.5mm jack plug that can connect to phone or MP3 player

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Connects2-CTVVGX004-Passat-Adaptor-Interface/dp/B005FMYGAS

It plugs in to back of RCD 300 where the plug for 6 CD changer would go (will only work if you don't have one of these already)

I've also fitted this aux kit from amazon this week. I've got the RCD500 but they are very similar, just check you have the CD changer port available on the back.
I installed the little grey box that comes with it behind the climate control panel and have run the lead coming out the bottom of the centre console. Only took around 45 mins to do.
Works and sounds really good.

Only other tip you'll need is to be aware that when u take the radio out you take a lot of the centre console apart, and when you unplug the little light that shows if the passenger airbag is off, this will cause an airbag fault to appear if the battery is connected, this will need to be reset after.
