Title: Vacuum Pump Oil Leak?
Post by: dieseldog on October 22, 2015, 11:21:01 am
Hey guys.

I was looking at an 07 GTI last night which was in great shape. I didn't leave a deposit as there was a small oil leak on the right hand side on the engine. I have been googling this and going through forums last night and I think it's called the vacuum pump. Some threads suggest that the rubber seal can be replaced whilst others state that the pump needs to be replaced. I think that the price for the full unit is over £300?

Has anyone come across this issue? I want to get an idea as to the costs for repair as I wish to discuss with the dealer and possibly come to an agreement regarding purchase.

I can't find the link to attach a picture but hopefully you can see from the link below. The oil leak is at the base of the metal plate in the centre of the picture.

Appreciate any help.

Mine has got this, quite common by the looks of things. They  did a revised part. Would this affect the brake assist?

I read in another forum regarding a mark 6 driver who's brakes failed but I'm not sure of the facts.
