Title: Turbo Sound
Post by: MikeGolfed30 on October 28, 2015, 12:37:21 am
This is probabily a complete Noob question, but I want a big turbo spooling up and waste gate noise from my standard ED30....

cut to 3minute 25seconds on this video :surprised: ... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/34476954 and this is what i am after but obviously not so awesome as this beetle!!

My question is how can i acheive this noise! not so much the loudness of the exhaust but more the induction and turbo spool and waste gate flutter!

Can't load the link. Might try and find that on yt - those rallycross engines are mega. 600 odd bhp I think.

Anyway... Your best bet is an open cone filter intake like the ITG and Revo ones. The standard intake setup does a good job of muting a lot of the turbo/dv noise, so swapping over for an aftermarket jobbie will amplify things. Quite a few people actually find these intakes too loud for their taste, but I'm guessing it's just what you're after.

A remap will help too if you haven't had one already - more boost = more noise.

I doubt you'll ever get the car to sound like a rallycross car, but a decent intake is a start.

I'm guessing this is the same video - just posting it for the benefit of others who can't load the BBC vid:

It does make some nice noises. 40+psi of boost....!
