Title: New remote wont programme to car

My remote stopped working a while ago replaced the battery still no joy. So today i finally got around to getting a new fob sorted the fella came to do it but his diagnostic machine wouldnt even connect to my car. Could it be the ccm and not the remote in the 1st place. My central locking works via the lock and interior lights all work

when you press the button on the key, a red light flashes. If the battery had completely run out, it wouldn't flash at all.
