Hi all.
I got into my 56 GTi yesterday after a few hours drive and as i turned the ignition on the car bleeped at me and i had the 'oil pressure - stop engine' error come up on the dash. I turned the car off and it went away and the car drove fine.
Is this a common electrical fault on the Mk5's or should i take it to VW for diagnostics? It hasn't happened again and the car drives fine, loads of oil etc.
I have heard it could be a problem with blocked oil pickup pipes, but as it has gone i'm not sure this is the case for me.
Am i being paranoid?
Cheers,
G.

Well it could be the pickup pipe. I presume youve checked the oil level?

Check the pickup pipe if the oil level is fine.
Its a cheap replacement compared to a new engine- 12-15quid i think.
Drop the sump, 2-3 bolts and replace.

Oil level is fine.
I will check the pick up pipe on the weekend. Is it easy to get to?

Cheers, just read that.
If it comes on again i shall seek attention on the oil pick up pipe...:)

I had the low pressure warning buzzer on my mark 3 GTI and it turned out to be a faulty pressure sensor, at 190,000 miles we suspected that it was a blocked pick up pipe but it was just a cheap sensor in the end and it's still going strong :jumpmove:

Will be the oil pick up pipe in the sump
