Well, a crap loose engine cover snapped the sensor (plastic part) on top of the High pressure fuel pump, due to slight wheel spin in the P**sing rain. bringing on the EPC light on dash and car into limp mode. As far as im away I cant replace the top it, and have to replace the pump?, have just bought a 2nd hand pump off ebay thats only done 31k miles, was this the right thing to do? have heard of people getting away with glueing it together but that would surely be just delaying the problem for a short term, anyone else had this issue? had just replaced cam follower on the old pump as well, worth switching into the new pump ? or will that be grand, pump i have bought is more or less brand new, thanks for any advice,
Lewis

Swapping over to the replacement pump you got should be fine as well as swapping the cam follower on too.
While it's out on the bench, perhaps look at buying some Autotech internals too:

I ran an upgraded HPFP on my stock Golf R engine and the difference was noticable, far smoother power all the way through the power band due to far better fuelling and the engine actually getting the fuel it demanded.
