Fitted an airtec stage 2 intercooler a few days ago, and as the intercooler is fatter, the fans now sit further back into the engine bay?
Has anyone else noticed this?
Its currently causing a bit of wear to the throttle body pipe and one of the radiator pipes, which has me a little worried?

I wouldn't have thought it was big enough to do that.
Have all the screws definitely been put in? There's a couple that hold the whole rad/intercooler pack forward
Go and see if you can pull it all forward, if you can they have not been put back in. I wonder how I know this happens
-
Yes, it will be further back. That extra thickness has to go somewhere !, as long as the fans don't rub you are good to go.
-
All screws are in, so i guess its a matter of trying to ajust pipes so they no longer rub.
-
I've got the same cooler, there is def less room but no where near the pipes, something sounds odd there

I think on the mk5 platform you have to remove a bit of the foam padding on the front crash member to stop things rubbing? Might be what's causing yours to be pushed back so much...

What he says.
Usually a little material on the plastic panel needs chopping to allow the AC condenser not to rub.

I'll try that.
Have got the bumper etc of and have discovered the intercooler is where it should be at at the bottom, but not at the top. It can be pushed forward, but falls back straight away.
Turns out I've left the two bolts out that hold it in place. Face palm
