BCS now sells their exhausts with Powervalve letters instead of BCS.
-
Thats a bit odd.... so its a powervalve but not a powervalve.

Thats a bit odd.... so its a powervalve but not a powervalve.
Yeap. I guess the BCS name of the brand was replaced by the more appealing Powervalve name.

They are now called Powervalve Exhausts LTD. Previously BCS Automotive Limited.

Bloody hell...... He changes the name of his company every 2 minutes. :signLOL:
Still.... Great exhaust though. :happy2:

I don't think I'll be able to break the habit of calling them BCS lol. Car is looking great dude. Found a HPFP?

I'll grab the link for you. Steering wheel works fine with a CH controller illumination doesn't work sadly. But hopefully there will be a solution.

Yep. Spot on!! I've found people with boost actuated powervalve systems get offended when I refer to it as a powervalve exhaust.

Yes. ALK has made a huge difference to front end confidence. Turn in is improved, traction appears higher. Not sure if some at this stage is placebo, and just from having nice fresh bushes. But I like it.

Thanks. :happy2: Let me know if you ever sell it.

Hi buddy just a quick question if you dont mind....
The downpipe you've ordered off ebay, I notice it says item location 'Leicestershire' which is where i'm from but, it's showing signs on the listing that It could be actually from china or somewhere. How long did it take to arrive?
-
Quick question where did you get the steering wheel and gear knob from?
-
Downpipe took a few days. Steering wheel and gear knob were from eBay. Steering wheel Italy, gear knob Mexico.
-
Fitted my LOBA a couple of days ago. Such a good price from TSR on their Xmas offer I couldn't turn it down. Just waiting for a replacement intercooler from Ramair, then I'll be getting my clutch uprated, as well as RFD and inlets cleaned. Will then be ready for Stage 2+.
-
Lovely looking car :happy2:
Are you booked in for Stage 2+? Look forward to hearing the results. Im soon to be Stage 2+ also
-
I'm not booked in yet. Waiting for a couple more bits to be done.
-
I running the B8 kit on my audi a3 what difference are Ecs top mounts over the OEM mounts.

Deako where and how much is was the TTRS engine cover ?
thanks for info and reply
does the Loba make any more midrange or the same untill remap stage 2+
-
Got it from eBay, but they aren't expensive directly from TPS. I'm still waiting on the 2 rear bolts for it from TPS. Been on order for 9 days now. :(
The LOBA does make the car feel stronger but could be placebo.
-
I've read recently that it's not possible to buy the longer bolts anymore unless you can prove its for a tts.
How much was the cover from tps Luke? I'm looking at one atm £90 with the bolts but could do with painting
-
Got it from eBay. Wish I'd got a kit with bolts.
-
Can't keep up Luke
So did you f\/ck the Rocco off, or have you still got that? A good friend has literally just got one of those but the 150 in the optional Purpley' colour, reminded me of yours :happy2:
Love the changes to the ED30. Amazing how just some centre caps make those wheels look a million miles different in perception.
If you don't stick with the cooler, for whatever reasons, should you change - what's next? Peron?
Missing out on all the TFSI fun, don't know how you boys can chop from diesel to TFSI/TSI like it's chocolate money...     @Deako (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=653)

Lol. Rocco went around May. Left my job at the bank, went self employed running a detailing/vinyl wrapping company. And moonlight it with sub contracting in the vinyl/sign fitting trade.
If it got ditched I'd probably end up with a welly cooler. But just don't know. I'd like to give it chance and I just want a nice strong reliable car. I'm not chasing records.

Are you booked in for stage 2+ yet?
-
Nope. Looking like R-Tech might be fully booked till the end of Feb too. :sad1:
-
Slight change on the brake options on the way.
Picked up some VWR 6 pots and front & rear 2 piece discs. :jumpmove:
My entire refurbished setup from BCR will be for sale if anyone is interested.
-
I've now also purchased a complete set of front and rear S3 brakes just for the rears.
I'll have 2x full sets of fronts (1x Refurbished in red and one standard S3 black) to sell and some immaculately refurbished GTI rears.
-
Nice detailing! Looking great!!
-
Did you fit the HPFP?
-
Stunning car! Well done on the detail really sets that colour off.
-
Cheers guys.

BR8K Pr0N :rolleye:
Got the right pipes and got these on yet Luke?
They look stunning, a clear advantage over similarly sized 4 pots, stupid question perhaps?
-
Not yet. Need to get in touch with Jonny at BCR in the new year for the new link pipes. VWR don't want to know, sh*t customer support tbh. The link pipes needed taking off due to them being the wrong way around.
Waiting for the S3 rears to turn up, and I'll be sending my rear VWR 2 piece 310mm discs off for skimming to tidy them up.
-
Can't you reuse the existing lines?
-

Yes. If one of them hadn't seized and needed to be cut off.
-
Ohh. Are the threads ok?
-
Ohh. Are the threads ok?
Yeah. Just couldn't get a brake spanner on it, so had to use a narrow hex socket.
-
Ahh. Phew
-
Had a misfire driving home yesterday. Got it plugged into VCDS on my laptop at the unit today. Had a misfire on cylinder 4, so no chances taken. Full set of BKR7EIX in and a new spare coil pack on cylinder 4.
-
...Can I feel some R8 coilpacks coming? :popcornsoda:
Cheers for your reply on my IT/php thread btw Luke, I'll check it out properly when I can face the concept of not lying in till 10 every day
:happy2:
-
No worries.
Maybe at some point. I see no benefit from them really. I had a spare so just fired that in with the new plugs.
-
Booked in for mapping on the 13th!! :jumpmove:
Last few bits being fitted this week!!

Fitted the H&R ARBs today as well as the Tyrolsport deadset kit, oil change, filter and fuel filter.
FMIC and clutch are being fitted this weekend by a friend.
-
Lovely car Luke. Just want to say was good to meet you today and thanks for the brakes . Hope you get everything sorted ready for Wednesday :happy2:
-
Cheers Mark. Was good to meet you too. Few problems today with wrong parts and fitment issues, but getting there.
Owe some serious gratitude to my mate for the work he has done on the car today. :notworthy:

From what you said to me you do owe him big time bud lol

Another hurdle. Ramair have supplied all the wrong hoses. I'm so raging right now.
-
Forge Motorsport FMIC now being used instead of the Ramair.
Fingers crossed no more hurdles and the car should perform on Wednesday!
-
i just see that on facebook hope its going back together ok :happy2:

Lovely car mate! Your h and r springs the 30mm ones?
What are your thoughts on them and the b8's? I'm looking at the same setup or possibly just h and r springs with new dampers as the bilsteinsa are pricey although I'm sure they're quality

It's a great setup. Don't buy the Bilsteins from the UK. You can get them half as cheap from Germany on eBay. :happy2:

Yes. It's immense. Shame it's rained since I left R-Tech.
In all fairness, the stage 1 map wasn't suited for all my stage 2+ mods.
-
Smooooth. Keep seeing these torque curves that Niki manages. Can't wait to get him doing a bit of Stage 2 on mine
Great results, again.
-
Let us know what traction is like with all that power when it drys out abit mate. I'm thinking of fitting a hpfp and intercooler and going stage 2+ in the summer

Great car and some awesome numbers fella!! :notworthy:
Had a quick skip through your thread..........which clutch/flywheel combo did you go for, holding that torque well is it?
Had my Organic Helix (with OEM DMF) mapped by Niki a few years ago to 420ft lb but that was at the edge of its ability and was bought back to 370.
-
Cheers.
I went for the Sachs Race Sintered Paddle and SMF. Rated to around 450lb ft I think. :happy2:

So it was MOT time this last week. Couldn't get booked in until Monday. Passed with flying colours of course.

Do you have to do any coding to get the mk6 controls working or are they just plug and play with the different surround ?

This things gunna be a proper weapon, graph looks spot on :happy2:
Although knowing BCR I wouldn't be that hopeful of deadlines :innocent:

The list of upgrades is great. You're finishing up the car really well. It's properly tuned, like we all expected from R-Tech. Hope to see the brakes fitted soon. :happy2:

Amazing car! Where did you pick up the mk7 gear knob? VW parts dept?
-
Cheers all. Yeah, brakes have been with BCR for 3 weeks. I wouldn't let anyone else touch them and was in no rush.
The Mk7 GTI knob was purchased from eBay in South America.
-
Thanks for that!!
Looks like the same one for €184, that sound about right to you? Is it a simple plug and play switch over from standard?

Nope. It's definitely not plug and play. You have to swap the lower frames over, cut a couple of inches from your original gear knob.

No worries bud glad to help you out
-
Still waiting on brakes. Have track day next Friday and I'm stacked out with work right up until then. Slightly pissed off. Doubt they will be on before my track day now.
-
Without better brakes you won't enjoy the track day as I you want to. They'll fade eventually and you'll have to drive slower until they cool down enough. :sad1:
Fitting bolt on brakes isn't that hard but you'd still need to bed in the pads before going to the track, I think.
-
Find time to do your brakes or you may as well not bother going on your trackday from my experiences.
Brakes are the no1 factor on the track day that fail / cause lack of enjoyment.
takes a couple of hours to fit i'm sure you can find the time... :happy2:

It is plug and play . :happy2:
i was one of the first to fit a mk7 gearknob back in 2014 :happy2:
drill into the gearknob from the bottom up . can't remember the size bit you need.. whatever the size of the shifter shaft was (easy to find with ring spanner)
simply remove stock one. unstaple mk7 leather from mk7 base
restaple mk7 leather onto mk5/6 base or use araldite just make sure you have got the leather pulled nicely.
drill up through gearknob enough to get the shifter in the correct position
tighten up clip and secure the base :happy2: :happy2:
saves ruining your oem components which are more fiddly to change :pomppomp:

You dont need to cut your old shaft. I suggested already. Drill into the bottom of new gearknob :-)
Much easier
Ok plug and play aside from a drill :) just suggesting a different way for luke to try it

@xjay1337 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=7542) I did actually see it in your thread... Looks much nicer to the original! I have the eBay ad saved so I'm watching the price!
-
Ahh. Yes, guess you could do that. But you don't end up with a squared edge so there is a possibility of the knob rotating. There is a flat edge inside to stop that happening, so cutting down the shaft and grinding one side flat is preferable.
-
Never had an issue with the knob rotating as long as the clip is done up properly. :happy2: :happy2:
in order to help my friend fit his one, i took mine off , and wasn't able to tighten the clip up properly using the pliars i had, so does rotate with a bit of pressure now. but was fine before i touched it again . once tightend up it will be fine :signLOL: :signLOL:
just another way of doing it if you want to be able to return the car to standard easily.
-
Haven't updated this for a while. Now fitted Corbeau Clubsports and Sabelt 4 point 3" harnesses.

You got any pics of your Gladen 3-way install?
Just flicked through the thread and couldn't see any.
-
Sorry. I didn't take any pics.
-
Bugger :(
Did you go for the 8"/4"/tweeter set? How do they sound running off the head unit?
-
I have no idea, it's the Mk5 custom setup. With woofer, mid and tweeter with crossovers. It sounds great through the RNS head unit. Way better than the standard speakers.

The new brakes will look awesome with the rest of the car. You can also think in the future of fitting the R32/S3 rear brakes to balance the braking power. Ordering TRW new parts from ebay or online stores isn't that expensive.

I did have a full setup of VWR 6pot fronts and S3 rears. All refurbished by BCR with 2 piece discs. But sold it all to @M4T VW (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=5017)

That's true, forgot about those. It would have been an awesome setup, at the same level of the rest of the car. The GTI Performance brakes will be good for fast road driving.
-
Didnt you have r32 brakes before. I remember cos you wanted ridiculous money for them.
They're the same as the pp brakes so wondering why you've downgraded from 6 pots lol.
Can never have too much brake.

Hi pal. I may be interested in your seats. As a new member I don't seem to be able to post in the for sale section so apologies for posting here. Are they still available and would they fit straight into mk5 gti? Thanks
-
Been looking at getting these seats myself, how do you find them? And how come you decided to downgrade the brakes?

In all fairness I was thinking of selling the car and emigrating.
Seats are great VFM.

There must be some kind of issue  [ERROR]
You must've been traveling or something man! :happy2:

Haha. Yes. But realistically I actually need another diesel. Like a Caddy Kombi or something for work.
I cover more mileage than I should be.

Nice car, that is some effort.
