Title: Oil pressure warning light
Post by: wilka78 on November 07, 2015, 11:02:25 am
Hi all, has anyone experienced this coming on the dash? Mine doesn't come on when idling, it ticks over great and only comes on when you touch the accelerator peddle. The car is getting oil to the top end so could it just be a sensor or the pressure switch? Anyone had this problem?

I think a common cause of this is a failing oil pickup pipe.

Pickup pipe mate. Stop driving the car before you damage the turbo or bottom end.

Yeah that's what I thought so took the sump off and checked that which wasn't blocked, cleaned the sump out while I had it off and I'm still at a loss as to the cause of it..

This happened to me recently.
After changing the oil pick up pipe found out the oil filter had collapsed on itself. I thought it was strange as it had recently been changed however I was made aware that there was another valve inside the filter housing which often gets blocked up. I'd never heard from any guides or info about this when I was getting prepped for the full service I completed however it'll be getting regularly checked on all future services.

Oil pump or a faulty switch. Have a garage test the oil pressure to confirn which
