Title: Camshaft change
Post by: vala on November 07, 2015, 06:16:52 pm
After checking and changing my cam follower (original had worn through the top), I checked which camshaft I had fitted. Unfortunately it's the revision 'a' camshaft so I need to get a list of tools and items which I require to make the change.
So far my list contains the revision 'b' camshaft and another cam follower.
Would it be worth changing the timing chain and tensioner as well (car has 101k) on the clock.
FWIW it's a BWA engine.
Thanks all

Sorry, can't help you with a tool/material list.

When was last belt and tensioner change?
Regardless of that, i think it would be daft to change a cam and follower, yet reuse the old belt and tensioner.

Cambelt and water pump were changed with genuine VAG last December.
Tensioner has not been changed in my ownership (December '13-present). I'd have to take a look through the old invoices to see if it's ever been done.
