I don't see you getting much change out of 3-4K

My mate just got four quotes for full a full hit on his b5 s4, windows out, proper job. They came in at £1400, £1500, £1700 and £2000. The coachworks at £2000 is meant to be the best in Ayrshire but cant comment. And the one at £1700 I have just had the wing, bumper and bonnet painted on my s3 and its like glass its a perfect job. Maybe the resprays in my area are a lot cheaper but that's the ball park figure around here.

Cheers, Stevie.

Depends but I would budget about £2500-£3000 for a complete fresh respray.
If you want just a blow over then around half to 2/3rds of that.

Mate paid £3500 for a custom colour spray inc engine bay. The paint is brilliant on that.

I'd recommend Lemass Automotive.
Theyre very good.

Have seen Lemass's work on a few things and it looks good, although they did paint some stuff on my mates van the wrong colour  :signLOL:.

My mate just had his B5 S4 painted by Birkin Brothers and that looks very good, was well priced aswell at £2000 for the full deal, glass out doors removed etc..

Thanks for the advice chaps, very much appreciated. I shall look into both Lemass Automotive and Birkin Brothers.  :notworthy:

I'm STILL betwixt and between on whether to keep the Mistress (she still feels along way from finished re power and looks), if I don't sell up i fancy a full colour change to something completely different and If I do keep her I'll not be selling her for a long time so not bothered about ever returning to standard.

Hi Danny.

I love wraps and some are awesome. Carlo's frozen grey looks immense as does a friend of mine who has his R8 in matt purple but I just like the look of paint and the depth of colour that can be achieved by a great paint job (and detail).

In terms of keeping/ selling her what's your budget and what might you switch to. Also bare in mind are you gunna just buy another car then start again on that. I thought about an ED30/ S3 switch but realised I'd just have to start modding again and would be chucking all the little bits I had done to mine already.

It's a black Caddy and apparently there's 4 colours for that paint code they have different pearls/ metalics/ hues in them. Looked fine in the dark when he picked it up but was nearly grey in the sunlight compared to the rest.

No budget as such. I was going to get a Mk6 R next but have considered bypassing that and getting either a Mk7 R or an RS3. This car owes me nothing so anything I get for parts plus car or as a whole (as she stands now) would be a bonus to chuck in the modding pot........if I sell. If I don't sell, I potter around in my little 1.6i Pug 206 and finish the Mistress regardless and someone, somewhere in the future will own a fuly modded and much loved Mk5.

Fair play, personally I would spend the money on the ED30, especially if its not a daily. Get a TTE420 on it, respray and new wheels etc.. Quite a lot of money but I feel it would be more special than the others. However it does mean no 4WD which all the others do have, but for me that's half the fun  :driver:

^^^^ Apart from changing the wheels...that would be the plan, a Hyprid or BT and supporting mods.

Ideally the only way I would keep the Mistress (and not get a 4WD car) is if I had her converted to 4WD. Big job but she already has too much power for a FWD car and if that were doable there would be no need for a new car.....win win.

Sounds like an awesome car  :happy2:

Yeah those wheels are very nice but I change mine every 6 months so I assume everyone else does the same  :rolleye:

I was quoted £750 cash for a front end respray for my Ed30 at Jays Cars in Sutton last week. I thought that was fairly reasonable. Best quote I could get from VW approved place for the same work was £1400.

I was quoted around £500 for a blow over , front wings bonnet and bumper/Splitter Martin.

Still no plans to sell off my Phylis, she's still going strong and no problems with her.

I'm in the same position mate, she owes me nothing, ditched the idea of a mk6R , and will be going for the Mk7 dirivertive GTi/or R in a few years time.

Hi Steve @SteveEd30 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=13339)

It's the front end that's taken a beating over the years on mine (stone chips). I had a quote of £650 for front end inc bonnet, bumper and fitting, blending/smoothing my Votex splitter (sat in garage for nearly a year ) into bumper. Also have 2 door dings that need sorting....does no one give a sh*t these days while opening THIER bloody Doors!!  :stupid:

Yeap, leaning that way too re Mk7. Always REALLY wanted a Mk6 R but now I can have one I find myself finding excuses to not get one and waiting for the flood of rented Mk7 R's to hit the market or possible a Clubsport, price dependant.

The quote I had above for £650 was from Ian Taylor bodyshop who I used to modify and paint my R32 rear end with great results. I'd happily recommend them to anyone.
