Title: RNS310 radio not working - help!
Post by: ArildStavrum on November 18, 2015, 10:13:13 am
Hi all,

I picked up my new Eddy a couple of days ago and the radio isn't working on the RNS310 that is fitted to the car. The aerial on the car was all worn and tatty so I bought a polo aerial and hoped that might cure it but unfortunately not.

I just get static or a very faint radio reception that you can't listen to.

It's really annoying, everything else works well.... Sat nav, cd changer etc.

Has anyone else has a similar problem or can someone suggest a possible fix?

Thanks in advance!

first thing is you need to pull the stereo and make sure the aerial cable is connected

I was dreading someone saying that!! I wouldn't have a clue where to start!

Rather than take it too a garage is anyone based in south west London/Surrey that may be able to help?!

Thanks

It's not as bad as it sounds.

You just need to remove the plastic surround and it is 4 torx screws to unbolt the head-unit.

Start with the top mounted air-vent and work downwards. Here's a good link to follow:-

It shouldn't take you more than about 5-10 mins.

I also suspect it is the aerial not connected properly or even the incorrect cable is connected.

Let us know how you get on. There is no need to take it to a garage. You should be able to get enough help from the forum to assist you.

Good luck!

Thanks mate. Appreciate that.

I just wouldn't attempt that to be honest, too scared of breaking something. Or not being able to get it back together. I have zero patience for fiddly things!!

I'll call my local Indy and see what they would charge to take a look.

You could contact @RetroRaz (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=6494) on here - he'd be able to help and he's from the London area.

He helped me with my bluetooth fitting and set-up.

Very knowledgeable and top bloke.
