Hi Guys,
Bought the car standard nearly two years ago and has come a LONG way since then. It's now just my track toy and has a massive spec. Most people will probably recognise it from my instagram (gti_christian), its not often you see a genuine BTCC kitted car....
Anyways, here's its most recent outing at the Nurburgring for the second time this year...
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fa244%2Fgti_christian%2Fracetracker_1243201_18304_zpsuj7ti0i9.jpg&hash=d454434d61d0ea2722085972549bfca90910be08)
And so the spec:
The car is a 2005 Golf GTi DSG.
Engine: AXX engine code, K04 turbo converted, 3" custom downpipe, 3"decat system made by EMP performance, THS big core intercooler, custom intake with Group A XL filter, S3 injectors, TSI coilpacks, RS4 fuel pressure valve. Mapped by Rtech- 360bhp 374lb-ft torque. Linear map. 5 Map/Boost settings.
Gearbox- DSG with Wavetrac LSD.
Suspension- ST ATX with KW Clubsport Spring rates and KW clubsport adjustable top mounts. Whiteline front and rear ARBs. Whiteline anti lift kit. Polybushed dogbone mount.
Brakes- front- forge/ap 356mm two piece floating discs with forge/ap 6 pot calipers and pagid RS29 pads. Rear- standard set up with pagid rs29 pads and uprated lines.
Interior- Fully stripped, just dash left. Sparco Pro 2000 drivers seat, magnum fibreglass passenger seat. Custom fully welded in rear cage by SA Motorsport. Interior sprayed in Suzuka Grey. Boost gauge steering wheel mounted.
Exterior- bonnet, front bumper, front wings, rear arches, ALL off of the official 2011/12 MK5 Golf BTCC car. Rear wing custom made. Carbon GP wing mirrors.
Wheels- BBS RE1096. 1 of 8 sets ever made for the official BTCC MK5. Made from magnesium. 17x9 all round et15. Wrapped in Nankang NS2R semi slick street compounds.
And some more pictures:
Most famous corner ever?

Not to everyone's taste :P But tbh, look at the car I drive, i'm not really bothered. The car is built for purpose and is an absolute animal on track, various track videos of it on my instagram feel free to watch (Y)
Looking forward to what next year brings for the car on track, now it's built, I just want to use it for what it's meant for.
I dont know what this forum is like anymore but so many people on the internet are like: "OMG massive wing on a FWD car!!?? Pointless!" I'll just leave this here...

Thanks mate! No standard internals, however on its first dyno run it ran 411lb-Ft and we could hear knock so its been wound back. The engines got more power to give but it wouldn't last long. I'm expecting it to go bang soon though, it smokes quite a bit and it just gets abused everytime its driven lol.
Yeah I'll keep it updated, wont be loads of updates being as its pretty much built already. Might get some polycarb windows all round, and some maintanance stuff like discs and pads. Need an uprated DSG gearbox cooler asap if anyone has any links??
-
Any future track day snaps and vids are essential please..... :innocent:

This makes me tingly inside :pomppomp:

Your car is all over Instagram, amazing how many pages this car pops up on. I don't follow you but I will now. Brilliant car, yours and ryan garage midnights.
Cheers, Stevie.

Love this car and build, been following for a while on Instagram didn't realise the kit and wheels were off an actual BTCC car that's awesome!! Saw you at Trax too looks mental in person

Porn
How many miles have you done on the engine with that power and what mileage was it before? Currently doing a hybrid k03 build on my AXX and trying to get a feel for how long it might last
-
Delightful!
It's not to my taste for a road car, but for a purpose-built track car, it's completely to my taste!
What's your daily driver then?
-
This is lovely mate got you on ig, love the rev limiter you got on your map as well I'm gonna get that!

Well if i was to start again then i woukd K04 (probably CDL conversion) but it was supposed to be a cheap option. I blew my downpipe off and killed the turbo so was going to put a 3" DP and hybrid k03 on then map it to about 300/300 so its easy power but have ended up doing near enough every upgrade possible exept the the k04 lol. Just one of those things i guess, at least its different though :jumpmove:

Hahahahaha dont worry i'm not that sensetive lol, i was going to keep the power down so i didnt have to replace the clutch/ HPFP and injectors but i ended up doing them all and more anyways :rolleye: but had already bought the turbo and its good for 340-350bhp and 375lb/f+ supposedly anyways so now im looking to push it but interested to see how people are getting on with pushing the AXX lumps. Its always a gamble but good to get a feel for what others have done with them.

Does anyone else run Forge 356mm 6 pots on the front of their mk5? I need new rotors and forge will only supply with bells too which i dont need. Need to speak to Reyland i think, has anyone got any experience with this? Cheers

@Mk5chris (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9737) how do you find the Forge brakes btw? Im thinking about switching to them for clearance and 2 piece discs but ive heard some rave reviews and some people say they're sh*t. But theres a lot of Forge haters out there so would be interested to see how a car that gets driven properly got on with them.

Anyone that says they're sh*t most likely haven't experienced them. I run Pagid RS29 pads and race fluid in mine which helps obviously. You can literally brake so late with them. At silverstone this year, on the back straight when people were braking, I was still accelerating, you can just leave it so late when they're hot. The 356mm and 6 pots are a great set up, and i just run standard rear set up with Pagid RS29's again and braided lines. Ideal really. Yeah you could get Tarox or AP's but just seems overkill lol and £££££. Even though these aren't cheap lol.

Thanks very much mate, yeah i was suprised to read it considering the usual qaulity of the Forge products. Does it not get a bit floaty with the standard rears then? Especially with all the weight taken out, i did Silverstone last year with the rear bench out and TTRS front brakes and found the rear got very squirmy braking from 100ish+. That is with std pads/ discs/ hoses though tbf.

Nah doesn't squirm at all mate, its pretty well balanced and good discs and amazing pads and lines on the rear account for that bud. I just cant wait to get back out there again now. Lots to do over winter :(
-
Sweet, thanks again. Yeah cant wait to get mine back and then do a few suspension bits to get her spot on :driver:

Looks like some great development has gone into this car. Any data on the gains from the blanked grill? Does the water not get too hot?

If it's good enough for the btcc car then it's good for this ha. The duct in the grill is huge and the vents in the bonnet aid cooling :)

Think you have to get a software modification for that! Just a bit of coding changes but I think gower can sort that out for you easy, definitely looking into this as well!
-
Really!? Never heard such a thing lol
-
Saw this by RJ performance a while back... looks extreme! Bet it's great fun :happy2:
-
Really!? Never heard such a thing lol
Yeh man I'm guessing it'll be something about the difference of turbulent air but that's just a guess, on APR''s RFD kit they say you need a software update for it, if you Google it everyone says it's necessary, ask Gower he'll probably shine a lot more light on it than I will haha!!
-
I have RFD kit installed and still the stock map. Other than the random and sporadic judder in the idle of the engine, I don't notice any difference from the lack of the runner flaps. AFAIK the software update is required to really take advantage of the intake increased air flow.

Lucky enough to get my hands on a FULLY polybushed subframe from another car cheap  Also including a TyrolSport DeadSet Rigid subframe collar kit. This will again make the car stiffer but also help out as I need to soften both front and rear shocks.
Few part pictures :)

Great car this. Saw it at Trax in Birmingham the other week and I tried finding you but couldn't. I wanted to ask where you got your bonnet louvered from lol
Keep up the good work :happy2:
