Hi all, I want to install an amp and sub into my mk5 GTI. I have done it on my mk4 before with an after market stereo...
*wired up live feed from battery.
*wired up the wire that tells the amp when the car is on from the back of the head unit,
*wired up the white and red cables from the back of the unit to the amp and job done...
I dont think this method will be the same on the MK5 and standard head unit am I right?
whats the idea? I still reckon the 12v wire and the on off signal wire would be the same but the actual red n white audio feed?.. this is the bit that stumps me!
thanks in advance all! :)

live from the fuse box under the bonnet, looks like oem, ignition for the amp from cig lighter or headunit, depends what have you got inside, audio cables using high low adapter from the rear speakers or from the unit. Good high low adapters has amp ignition option too. If you have rcd510 or rns headunit, it can be coded for the active system, which would convert the signal, but you would need to modify the harness to add plugs for audio signal. For ignition aswell, I think pin 6 is correct one.
