Title: Jake's Edition 30 #1438
Post by: jakemower94 on December 07, 2015, 01:51:15 pm
Thought it was time I started a thread under the right sub-forum. Its also ideal timing now I've finally had a chance to give her a good clay and polish!

Few quick stats;
55,000 miles (now a bit more than that)
Xenon headlights
Winter pack
Luxury pack
MFD2 HU
Reflex Silver
5 door model
Dealer fit Parrot Bluetooth system
Highline clocks
#1438

Here she is after a quick wash on the day I got her

Since then, I've done a few minor 'mods' including;
New mats
Boot liner
GTI seat height adjusters inserts
Boot pop kit fitted and coded
Updated maps and software for MFD2
Day time running lights coded
Automatic unlock coded
Beep when locking and unlocking coded
Heko wind deflectors
Rubber key cover (most important of them all! Haha)
Edition 30 badge on the front grill (which has since fallen off so will try to fit again in the spring)

Ever since I got her, I was dying to give her a clay and a polish as it was obvious it had never been done. The paintwork was really quite rough! Last Sunday was the first chance I had but I'm absolutely over the moon with the results, the paintwork came up like new. I used a clay mitt for the first time with shampoo and it worked a treat. Here's a few from afterwards (didn't think to take any before pics!!!)

(sorry for low res pics, time to upgrade my phone I think!)

Also got a bit of rain overnight but the polish did it's job

Not got a great deal else planned as yet but I'm sure it won't be long before it doesn't feel as powerful and I get it mapped.... Watch this space.

The Xenon's aren't really something I had given much thought to before I bought this but now I wouldn't buy one without them!

Thanks mate

Off to Belgium tomorrow in the Eddy so, of course, I needed to give her a clean. Due to working when we actually get some sunlight, had to do it under moonlight! Tried out some autoglym tyre dressing so hopefully they'll come up looking like new. I'll endeavour to take some pictures on my travels

Quick minor update... Edition 30 build number plaque came a few weeks ago but I only got round to fitting it on Christmas day. The plaque is by no means perfect but I guess you can't really complain for 13 quid! Here it is fitted;

Also gave her a wash on Christmas morning but she was dirty again within 24 hours! Didn't stop me taking her down to a waterfront location close to me for a few snaps though...

Nothing major planned for the new year to be honest. Would like to sort something out in terms of the exhaust but haven't got loads of cash to splash! Spending all my money on cleaning products at the moment! Might see a few cosmetic mods or some extra bass but we'll see how we go

Very nice indeed! As you've said - Xenons- I too didn't set out looking for a car with them, but I wouldn't buy one without now...

Haven't updated this for a while.... Oopsie. Been sorting out a few maintenance bits this year really e.g. Cam follower, Rev G DV etc. As well as having two punctures repaired within weeks of each other! In terms of modifications, I've taken the rear wiper off and fitted the Kill All Wipers glossy plug. Looks great now

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fuploads.tapatalk-cdn.com%2F20160726%2F66567db48aaf32bfb43369d319a89d15.jpg&hash=d1c6d0d1bf5d366fa0490dec822d0a61a529e001)

The biggest thing is that I've finally fitted a Milltek non-res cat back!! After a couple of issues with the first one they sent, a replacement was sent which is all great and looking sweet

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fuploads.tapatalk-cdn.com%2F20160726%2F05785b19d7d67733d9c4a0d60d63c999.jpg&hash=aaf1dd5b90fc7fc1fd14851b4f1f8a3306039dd6)

I'm now hungry for more so there's a few things that could be on the horizon... Buying a house and getting married doesn't help though!!

I also now have the original exhaust laying around... There is a small hole in the middle section (which was causing a blowing noise) but, other than that, it's pretty sturdy. Any ideas as to what it might be worth??

@shoaybmakda
Yeah, I like it, definitely an improvement on the standard system. Sometimes I wish it was louder but then other times (when I'm visiting clients for work!!) I'm glad it's not too in your face! Sounded a lot better inside when I had the rear seats down and parcel shelf out the other day lol
