Title: Mark M's MK5 GTi (Leather Retrim done)
Post by: Mark M on January 01, 2010, 09:40:07 am
Thought I would start fresh and keep everything together...  :happy2:

When I first collected the car, not bad for a student :

Lowered on Eibach springs, painted the grille and stuck the plate on:

Gave it the odd coat of wax here and there haha:

FItted some 19" BBS CH's, R32 rear lights, Milltek exhaaast, Tints.

Really wish I had never changed it from this to be honest, but whatever...

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fu01msm3%2FMy_GTI%2FDSC_0195.jpg&hash=96f5d9541a0c4e6d127f1bb8ddbb5d2bc3e7156b)

Got some FK Coilovers and slammed it. Mercedes Cl500 wheels in Steel Grey:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fu01msm3%2FMy_GTI_Merc%2FDSC_0441.jpg&hash=f1ec8d34c652abbeea0ad690932737a96fc9ce00)

Then it was turn of the Bentleys :D

It looked cool on these, but they were stupidly wide and heavy, also f*cked my front arches.

Sleazed about on them for a bit and got some attention, that was that.

Smoothed the front grille. carbon effect rear badge, dewipered, Sharan aerial, pressed plates.

Got some Parada's, rear spacers and got the stock wheels done satin black. MURDERED OOT.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fu01msm3%2FCarpark_Shoot%2FDSC_0609.jpg&hash=2c3114f2a1cebae856667ae587686281c8b40ed6)

After that went all sensible and got some BBS VZ033, red caps, FMIC, open grille vents.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fu01msm3%2FGTi_Photoshoot%2FDSC_0365.jpg&hash=57b1c1a75ac9b969d870e4ace363e07ab2e6d069)

FItted a DVD/Nav/Bluetooth unit:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fu01msm3%2FGTi_Photoshoot%2FDSC_0311.jpg&hash=dc60cd22c188d86311a0754e2280fa29d78f7172)

All sleazed up with mirror polished Audi A8 Monoblocks.

Crappy picture of the interior, really does look subtle and factory in the flesh:

Cheers folks :)

Can't work out how to multi quote on here lol.

Nathan, I have packaged the BBS centre cap for you, it will be in the post be recorded delivery on Tuesday.

I got the interior retrimmed by Transcal. I paid cost price for it as I did a couple of valets/details for a friend who sent the interior away through his business.

Think it would normally be £1500 excluding return postage. Then £50 for the extra cut of leather to do parcel shelf, £40 to get that done locally by some old duffer

Funded the car when I was a student as I lived at home, worked as a bar man/waiter, mowed lawns and did valeting/detailing :)

Now working for an oil company.

Unfortunately house ownership is killing the fund for the car, but still getting away with a few things lol.

Had a fair few sets of wheels, a couple of sets not pictured, as I never fitted them.

I always love the pics of your car.  :happy2:  Your photography skills are excellent.

I have also bought a spare grill to try out a similar colour mask on my candy, it looks the dogs against the black.  :happy2:

A good few looks going on there. Liked the black stealth look. :happy2:
Transcal are just along the road from me all the local dealers adv cust not to take the OEM leather options and instead get them done cheaper there. All the cars that get retrimmed sit out front in a wee display area with signs saying I am getting leathered. In the past few months they have done 2 Range Rover Sports one PiNk and the other lime green I hope their choice of leather wasn't as bad as the body work colour lol.

A brave colour but I have to say, absolutely stunning re trim. The more I examine the photos the more I realise how good it is. Little things like the GTI logos embossed into the headrests, and even the grap handle for the rear seat arm rest has been double stiched, just like factory.

I think you can be pretty sure you are driving one of a kind, and I'm really starting to warm to the MK6 steering wheel, having recently seen Darrens' in the flesh (steering wheel that is  :ashamed:)

Have to agree with a couple of others on here though, the best exterior look was with the 19" CCH''s. Looked absolutely superb then.

How easy is it to get the engine cover colour coded? I like the look of that a lot.
Oh, and the rest of the car, very tidy.

Cheers guys.

Yea i'll run with the badge on the grille, it has pretty much faded to orange.

May be selling the car today, after paying for my leather trimmed parcel shelf  :rolleye:

The silver part can come off, but we left it on.

Basically sand the texture down, plastic primer, high build primer, colour, clear :)
